A series of Talks in the Blue Cross Hall on Thursday nights in May, each starting at 6 pm with a light supper.

This series grew out of the idea that faith is rarely lived in the abstract. It is something people discover, question, and work out in the midst of their own lives — through their work, their experiences, and the paths they find themselves walking.

Over these evenings we’re inviting four people to share something of their own journey. Each of our speakers comes from a different context and each will reflect on how faith has intersected with their life along the way.

The aim of these gatherings is not debate, and it’s not about telling anyone what they should think or believe. Rather, it’s an opportunity to listen to someone’s story, reflect on the questions it raises, and then share in some open and respectful conversation
together.

Litany for Peace
In peace let us pray to the Lord.

For peace from on high and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord - Lord, have mercy.

For the peace of the whole world, for the welfare of the holy Church of God, let us pray to the Lord - Lord, have mercy.

For peace among our bishops, clergy and people, let us pray to the Lord - Lord, have mercy.

For peace among the nations, and those in authority, let us pray to the Lord - Lord, have mercy.

For the peace of the Manning Valley, for every city and community, and for those who live in them in faith, and for those in the Middle East and the United States of America. let us pray to the Lord - Lord, have mercy.

For our deliverance from all evil, strife, war and need, let us pray to the Lord - Lord, have mercy.

The MVAC Rowing team is competing at the NSW State Championships. They will take on other top schools at the Sydney International Regatta Centre throughout the weekend. The team has trained hard and is ready to perform at their best. The championships will be an invaluable experience for our rowers, who will gain new skills and knowledge from the competition to share with their teammates.

The MVAC community congratulates and supports Jack C, Nyah S, Ava F, Hayden M, and Oliver S. We will watch every race on the live streams and cheer them on.

A thoughtful response to belief and doubt.

Lord, help me to keep my eyes on You, fixed and focused, not distracted by the storms around me or the doubts within me.

When I look at my circumstances, I sink, but when I look at You, I find the strength to keep walking even when the path seems impossible.

Teach me to redirect my gaze every time it wanders, to train my eyes on what is true and eternal rather than what is temporary and overwhelming.

So much competes for my attention, pulling my focus to problems, fears, comparisons, distractions, and I lose sight of the One who holds it all together.

Help me recognize when my eyes have drifted, when I'm staring at obstacles instead of the Overcomer, when I'm fixating on what's wrong instead of who is right beside me.

Remind me that where I look determines where I go, that keeping my eyes on You keeps me steady, centered, and moving in the right direction.

Give me the discipline to turn my eyes back to You throughout the day, in worship, in Scripture, in prayer, in the quiet moments when I need to be reoriented.

Let my eyes stay fixed on You today, the author and finisher of my faith, knowing that as long as I'm looking at You, I won't be overwhelmed by anything else.

Amen.
