Earlier this year, we were honoured to welcome Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis KBE for the rededication of The Great Synagogue sanctuary.

“What we are celebrating today is an expansion, a rededication, a celebration of the fact we are not just alive here in this building, we are thriving.”

This once-in-a-lifetime occasion marked a powerful moment of growth, renewal and gratitude. It celebrated not only the restoration of a historic sanctuary, but the enduring strength, vitality and vision of a community continuing to shape a bright future for Jewish life in Sydney.

120 Year 11 students from Rosebank College, Five Dock visited The Great Synagogue as part of their Studies of Religion syllabus.

The tour included a talk from our Rabbi or community member, a short film on Jewish life and the Synagogue’s heritage, and an engaging Q&A with students.

Students of Studies of Religion from All Saints Catholic Grammar School recently visited The Great Synagogue for a tour of the magnificent heritage building.

The students explored the key features found in synagogues around the world, including the Ark that houses the Torah scrolls, the Bimah reading desk, and the Eternal Light. They also had the special opportunity to see a Chuppah being prepared for an upcoming wedding. ✨

ANU researchers are exploring how perceptions and ways of thinking (i.e. worldviews) relate to experiences and ways of living (i.e. participation and inclusion) in Australia.
They are seeking respondents for their online anonymous 15-20 min survey from any and all adult Australian citizens and permanent residents living in Australia.
