SIGNS OF SPRING

Variable winter weather in the Blue Mountains means some days are perfect gems, with cool air and warm sunshine creating spring-like conditions.

Seen on some recent walks in the upper mountains (clockwise from top left):

> Clouds soaring over woodland and heathland
> Red stems and buds of Hakea pachyphylla
> Buds of Coral Heath (Epacris microphylla)
> Bud of Broad-leaved Drumsticks (Isopogon anemonifolius)
> Silver Banksia (Banksia marginata)
> Bitter Cryptandra (Cryptandra amara)
> Sunburst over bushland
> Young Blue Mountains Ash (Eucalyptus oreades)
> Red-toned eucalypt leaves
> Sunshine Wattle (Acacia terminalis).
