It suggests that during times of prosperity, one should be wary of developing attachment and cultivate a sense of humility to naturally advance on their spiritual path. Conversely, in times of adversity, it encourages vigilance against anger and to contemplate eliminating obstacles, which leads to inner peace. The teachings emphasize that enlightenment and afflictions are interconnected, and that true happiness and suffering are not found solely in external conditions. Continuous practice of discipline, concentration, and wisdom is advocated to extinguish greed, hatred, and ignorance, highlighting that both favorable and unfavorable situations serve as tests and opportunities for spiritual growth.

The kindness and compassion we cultivate over time accumulate and result in blessings and good fortune. By doing good deeds and being considerate of others, we not only benefit them but also create positive and invaluable experiences for ourselves. True fortune and blessings come from cultivating a kind heart and a positive mindset, leading to good relationships and a fulfilling life. Essentially, it highlights the significance of kindness and the impact it can have on any life.

The...

It suggests that the things we try to control often end up controlling us instead. When we desire less and let go of our need to control, we can achieve a greater sense of freedom and simplicity. It presents the idea that true happiness comes not from what we possess but from being less concerned with material possessions and outcomes. It's a reminder of the paradox in striving for control and the peace that can come from acceptance, forgiveness and letting go.

The text I provided is a teaching from Master Qingde, shared with respect and gratitude. It recounts a dialogue between Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty and the master Xuanzang. In the story, Emperor Taizong expresses concern about making offerings to monks, as he has heard that many do not practice diligently. Master Xuanzang responds with a metaphor, comparing the presence of valuable jade and gold in mountains and rivers to the presence of genuine practitioners among monks, even if they are mixed with those who are less dedicated. He emphasizes the importance of respect and reverence towards all monks, as honoring them contributes to one's own merit and virtue. After hearing this, Emperor Taizong realizes the value of treating even novice monks with the same respect as he would a Buddha. The teaching encourages the cultivation of merit and virtue and praises the intentions and deeds of those who commit to spiritual practice.

Karma cannot guide the stubborn, and retribution cannot scare the ignorant. Those who are deeply entrenched in their obsessions do not heed advice, and those who are overly greedy fail to see impending danger. People who squander their lives do not recognize the onset of illness, and those who cannot control their cravings do not consider the difficulty of prolonged illness. Those who cannot be persuaded are bound by karma, and what cannot be transcended are your stubborn obsessions and self-righteousness. In the mundane world, we practice, led by Bodhisattvas in the fog. We aim to guide ourselves and others, yet the endless cycle of reincarnation continues for those who remain unenlightened.

The essence is inherently complete within, and there is no need to seek externally. Every moment of life is a place for spiritual practice; living itself is a form of cultivation. The wonder of life often exceed your expectations, and at any time, you must believe that everything is the best arrangement. If life is seen as a journey of cultivation, true practice is not on a mountain high but within everyday life. What we need to do is to refine our character when facing situations and cultivate our hearts when encountering people. A kind heart and a kind act surpass countless prayers. Do good deeds without asking for future rewards; everything in the world follows the law of cause and effect. Sincere intentions will always resonate back.

With gratitude in our hearts and good deeds in our actions, we gradually build a vast ocean of blessings. While helping others, we also construct beacons for our own souls, illuminating the path ahead.

One day, you will understand: your grievances need to be resolved by your own, and your stories don't need to be told to everyone you meet. There are only a few who truly understand you; most people will just view things from their own perspective and sneak a peek at your missteps. What you can do is to keep your stories safe in your heart and become stronger step by step. Remember, do not fear losing what was never truly yours, and do not fear being hurt, as those who can hurt you are part of your life's trials.

Whether a monk or a lay practitioner, one should not spend all day traveling around, visiting temples, and meeting various people, as this ultimately leads to nothing and wastes precious time. Everyone should strive to diligently and consistently practice their own stream, as this should be one of the most important matters in life. — His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok

If one cannot let go of attachments, everywhere becomes a prison. If one cannot let go of fixed views, everywhere becomes a trap. Being attached to a single thought confines you to that thought, and holding onto a single view binds you to that view. The Dharma realm is vast and manifests only through the mind. Letting go of attachments leads to harmony; letting go of rigidity leads to completeness. Establishing any knowledge in any attached form may be the root of ignorance. When knowledge is free from attachment, that is Nirvana. All appearances are illusions, and all dharmas are ultimately unattainable. It is nothing but the mind grasping at the mind; illusions arise from illusions. Originally, there is no bo***ge, so where is liberation? Originally, there is no defilement, so how can there be eventual purification? One moment of ignorance leads to the vast cycle of birth and death; one moment of awakening leads to the profound truth. Namo Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattva.

Things that bring you short-term happiness are certain to eventually cause you pain. Conversely, those things that initially cause you discomfort can ultimately lead to fulfillment and achievement. Remember, you can satisfy ordinary desires through indulgence, but deeper aspirations can only be attained through restraint.
