Fall of man but Love of God
Genesis 1:26-28
“26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth,------“
"What is the meaning of the tree of life?"
“And the Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground – trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” (Genesis 2:9).
The man was free to eat off of any tree in the garden, but forbidden to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil
The tree of life was the symbol of God’s provision for mankind’s immortality in the Garden of Eden. Of all the trees that were in the Garden of Eden, two were named for their great importance, the tree of life—was a blessing to Adam and Eve, the tree of knowledge of good and evil was to became a curse for all of their posterity.
Genesis 3:16-17King James Version (KJV)
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
The Lord had told Adam that he was free to eat the fruit of any tree in the Garden, except for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil for by doing so he would surely die. The tree of life was provided to be continuous reminder that immortality was a consequence of obedience. As long as Adam and Eve were obedient and did not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they had access to the tree of life, a life in abundance. Once they sinned, they were driven from the Garden, and God placed an angel with a flaming sword to guard the tree of life so they would no longer have access to it. Eternal life was now no longer theirs. Just as God had warned, they died, and through Adam all men after him would die.
Romans 5:12King James Version (KJV)
12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Being a loving God, God barred access to the tree of life, showing compassion in His omniscience. Knowing that because of sin, life would be filled with sorrow and would become a living horror to all mankind, He graciously limited the number of years men would live. Sickness entered in the lives of man because of sin. If man would have eaten off the fruit of tree of life they would have become immortal. To live eternally in a sinful state our bodies diseased with no cure, in pain, a life full of heartache, toil, and grief would have meant endless agony for humanity, with no hope of the relief that comes with death. By limiting our lifespan, and in the time frame God has given us on earth, God gives us enough time to come to know Him and His provision for eternal life through Christ, but spares us the misery of an endless existence in a sinful condition. Amen
Because God knew that Adam would fail the conditions of his immortality, He provided for One who would redeem fallen mankind. Through one man, Adam, sin entered the world, but through another Man, Jesus Christ, redemption through the forgiveness of sin is available to all.
Romans 5:17King James Version (KJV)
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.
Those who avail themselves honour the sacrifice of Christ on the cross will see the tree of life again, for as it would stand in the middle of the Holy City, the New Jerusalem
Revelation 22:1-2King James Version (KJV)
22 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
This water is to be the constant flow of everlasting life from God’s throne to God’s people. Amen.
We can become joint partners of this inheritance through entering the world of salvation through the Son of God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and God of Israel, Lord Jesus Christ, not through the physical circumcision of our bodies but through the circumcision of our hearts. We become a child of God through the New Blood Covenant which is between God, the Father and His Son, who was slain at the very foundation of this earth for our transgressions, representing man. Those who enter into this relationship with God the Father and Jesus His Son, do so by the rite of circumcision, the circumcision of the heart. Amen and Praise the Lord.
