Today is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday – a moment in our Church’s calendar to honour the deep faith, culture and contributions of First Nations peoples.

2026 marks the 40th anniversary of St Pope John Paul II’s address to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in Alice Springs.

On this day, he recognised the ancient spiritual richness of First Nations cultures, the injustice of dispossession, and called the Church to stand alongside Indigenous peoples - not just in words, but in action.

May today renew our hearts, deepen our unity, and strengthen our commitment to walk together in faith.

This weekend at Our Lady of the Way, 45 children will be receiving their First Holy Communion.
19 of these children and their families will be attending the 9.30am Mass, and there will be limited seating available for Parishioners.
Please also allow extra time for parking at the 9.30am Mass due to the large number of people who will be in attendance.
We thank you for your understanding, and keep in our prayers the children who will be receiving their First Eucharist this weekend.

On the 2nd Friday of the month, OLOW has a fun, faith-filled Youth Group for children in Yr 4-7, from 7-8.30pm in the Parish Hall.
No registration is needed, parents just need to sign their child/children in on arrival.
The next Youth Group is on Friday June 12, and it promises to be a great night!
