A week until The Choir of St James’ and Van Diemen's Band join forces for a glorious program tracing the musical journey from Venice to northern Germany.

With massed voices, strings and brass, the program also looks to the present through contemporary responses by Australian composers Alice Chance and Brooke Shelley, reimagining this extraordinary musical heritage.

We're delighted to present The Choir of St James' with Van Diemen's Band on September 16, 2026 at St James'

Introducing our six vocal soloists for our Sydney performance of Symphoniae Sacrae.

Sopranos Amy Moore and Michelle Ryan; mezzo soprano Hannah Fraser; tenors Louis Hurley and Eric Peterson, and bass-baritone Andrew O’Connor make up our superb team of singers for this program of vocal and orchestral masterworks from 17th century Germany and Venice alongside new works from 21st century Australia.

Collectively, they sing with ensembles including Opera Australia, Pinchgut Opera, Bach Akademie Australia, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Cantillation and the Australian Vocal Ensemble - to name a few!

This is a rare chance to hear some of the country’s finest vocalists, together with the massed voices of the Choir of St James' and Australia's most adventurous early music ensemble.
