This week, our Moderator Rev Faaimata Havea Hiliau joined the UCA delegation in Tuvalu for the 29th General Assembly of the Ekalesia Kelisiano Tuvalu. It is a profound privilege to walk alongside our Pacific siblings in faith, in friendship, and in hope.

We invite you to pray for the people of Tuvalu and for all that is being renewed through this partnership.

Thousands of Aboriginal people dedicate their lives to making a positive difference for their families and communities, often unseen and rarely acknowledged.

During National Reconciliation Week, in the spirit of this year's theme ๐€๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ˆ๐ง, Nathan Tyson asks us to recognise the quiet heroes who show up every day, not as a response to a problem, but as an act of love for their people. ๐Ÿ–คโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

Nathan's piece is part of our upcoming Winter edition, themed It celebrates the quiet, tireless people across our Uniting Church communities who show up, give generously, and rarely seek recognition. Reconciliation is not a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

This year's theme for National Reconciliation Week is ๐€๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ˆ๐ง, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

As a Church, we are called to be people of reconciliation, not as bystanders, but as active participants. This week, and every week, we are ๐˜ˆ๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜๐˜ฏ, recommitting to listening, learning, and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the ongoing journey toward justice and healing.

UCA school prefects gathered with the Moderator in early May to reflect on a year of leadership and ask a bigger question: how are you going to transform the world?

From running events to raising money for charity, from speaking in front of thousands to learning to navigate failure, these young leaders have grown quietly and significantly. And as they step into university and the workforce, the invitation to lead, to serve, and to make their corner of the world a better place, goes with them.

It is not just a question for young people. It is one for all of us.

Today on National Sorry Day, we remember the Stolen Generations, children who were forcibly removed from their families. We continue to stand with survivors and their communities.

This year's theme, From Sorry to Action, set by the Healing Foundation, calls on governments to take urgent, tangible steps within survivors' lifetimes. We stand by that call.

Twelve years before the Australian Government apology in 2008, the Uniting Church Assembly affirmed a formal apology to the Stolen Generations , and acknowledged the Church's complicity in intergenerational harm and trauma. That history carries a responsibility, not just to remember, but to act.

National Reconciliation Week follows from tomorrow, 27 May to 3 June. May we walk this week, and every week, with honesty, humility, and commitment to justice. ๐Ÿ–คโค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›
