Last week, Uniting Church and UnitingWorld leaders sat down with counterparts from Papua New Guinea's seven mainline churches and the PNG Council of Churches to talk about what's at stake and what we can do together.
PNG leaders shared how communities are feeling the impact right now. And the practical ways they're responding:
๐ฑ Protecting mangrove ecosystems around Port Moresby
๐ค Strengthening community resilience
๐ข Advocating for stronger climate policy
Representing our Synod, Rev Alimoni Taumoepeau spoke about our approach here in NSW and ACT, partnerships with government and faith communities, and growing the next generation of young climate leaders.
Thuy Linh Nguyen from Uniting shared how momentum is building behind Uniting Climate across our Synod.
And our Moderator, Rev Faaimata Havea Hiliau, reflected on the strength churches find when they act together towards a common purpose.
The event was facilitated by Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as part of The Papua New Guinea-Australia Church Partnership Program (CPP).
