IMelkite NSW

IMelkite NSW With this in mind, we would like to now introduce you to iMelkite, the newly formed monthly program for young adults in NSW.

Under the guidance of His Grace, Most Reverend Bishop Robert Rabbat, Melkite Catholic Eparch of Australia and New Zealand, we have listened to the young adults (aged 18 to 30 years) within the Melkite Catholic community. iMelkite is centred on three key areas; The social dimension that promotes greater community engagement, the theological component that builds up the spiritual foundations, and th

e charitable element that encourages the enactment of the Christian spirit. In consideration of these three key areas, the iMelkite initiatives all plan to then work towards uniting our parishes, building stronger bonds between them, and growing our community.

War has once again struck Lebanon. Thousands of Christian families have been forced to flee their homes with very few belongings, seeking safety elsewhere in the country.

Some are staying with relatives, while many others are sheltering in churches, monasteries, parish halls, and schools.

With work almost impossible during the conflict, displaced families urgently need support for food, medicine, and basic necessities. Through our churches on the ground, your donation will help provide immediate humanitarian relief.

Thanks to generous matching donors, every dollar donated will be doubled (up to $10,000), so your support goes twice as far.

All contributions are tax-deductible. Visit https://shorturl.at/IDDJ9 to donate today.

Statement on the Sleeping unto the Lord of His Holiness Pope Francis

Christ is Risen! المسيح قام !
Χριστός ἀνέστη!

With profound sorrow, yet unwavering Christian hope, we receive the news of the sleeping unto the Lord of His Holiness, Pope Francis.

At this solemn moment in our Liturgical calendar, Easter Holy Monday, our hearts are united with the faithful throughout Australia, New Zealand, All Oceania and the whole world, as we give thanks for the life and witness of a holy, humble, courageous, and merciful man.

Pope Francis served not as a distant figure of power, but as a shepherd who walked among his flock as His master and ours, our Lord Jesus Christ, did, especially those most easily forgotten. He reminded the Church, again and again, that Christ is encountered not in the palaces of the powerful, but on the peripheries, among the poor, the sick, the imprisoned, the displaced, the unborn, and the brokenhearted. His voice carried the accents of Divine Mercy, and his actions, often disarmingly simple, bore the weight of the Gospel’s call to love what is true and serve whom the world overlooks.

In this Jubilee Year of Hope, Pope Francis passes from this life as a pilgrim who has completed his earthly journey. He now enters into the fullness of that Living Hope which he preached to a fractured world. Even in his weakened state, his appearance in St Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday became a living sign that truth endures beyond the tomb and that death cannot silence hope.

Let us now pray for our departed Holy Father, that he may hear in the depths of eternity the same words he strove to echo on earth: Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord. (Matthew 25:21).

May the memory of His Holiness Pope Francis be eternal!

Most Reverend Robert Rabbat
Eparch of the Melkite Catholic Church of Australia, New Zealand and All Oceania
