Do you like stories? This is a great true story of the so-called prodigal son, would you like to hear it?
Joe, a 20-year-old Christian, was originally a talented high school student, but then he reached out with some students who didn't like to study and began to skip school. During that time, he learned to smoke and drink. Sometimes he went to steal with his friends when he had no money. However, these did not make him feel relaxed and happy. After sobering from the fun, physical discomfort, conscience condemnation, unexplained pain and stress arose. Especially when he saw that some people he used to hang out with could not even find a job after they graduated because of their criminal records, his numb heart began to waver. He wanted to change these bad behavior to start his life over, but the truth is not as simple as he thought.
He had thought more than once, is his life just ruined by eating, drinking, and the pursuit of pleasure? He was also unwilling and determined many times to change these bad behaviors, but he had been completely unable to control himself, which left him in extreme pain.
Later, with the help of a friend, Joe accepted God's new work. God's authority in His Word and His love attracted Joe deeply. He began to pray and read God's word every day. Whenever bad behaviors tried to affect him, he prayed to God, asking Him to strengthen his faith to betray his flesh. As brothers and sisters met up with him, they often shared God's word and experiential testimonies. He feels he can control himself gradually, which made his faith arise. Then he continued to pray and read God's word every day. By gathering with brothers and sisters, in God's word, he understood many truths that he had not known before, and completely quit the bad habits that were harming him. When Joe was testifying about his experience, he said with tears that no one can quit the bad habits by themselves or by doctors' treatment. It was the power and authority of God's word and the wonderful salvation of God that saved him...
The Lord Jesus said, “Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
God’s word says, “When you are weary and when you begin to feel something of the bleak desolation of this world, do not be lost, do not cry. Almighty God, the Watcher, will embrace your arrival at any time. He is keeping watch by your side, waiting for you to turn back around. He is waiting for the day you suddenly recover your memory: when you realize that you came from God, that, at some unknown time you lost your direction, at some unknown time you lost consciousness on the road, and at some unknown time acquired a “father”; when you realize, furthermore, that the Almighty has always been keeping watch, waiting there a very, very long time for your return.”
