Established in the Archdiocese of Sydney, 1967 & affiliated w/ the Mother Shrine of Lourdes, France. Follow the blue arrows to reach the Grotto and our office.

Parking is available behind the Earlwood Senior Citizens Centre, as well as along the driveway leading to the Grotto, for visitors requiring priority access.

✝ Oᴜʀ Lᴀᴅʏ ᴏꜰ Sᴏʀʀᴏᴡs | 15ᴛʜ Sᴇᴘᴛᴇᴍʙᴇʀ

The following prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows is attributed to St Bonaventure, a Franciscan friar and Doctor of the Church, who had a tender devotion to the Blessed Mother.

🙏 Prayer to Our Lady of Sorrows

O most holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by the overwhelming grief you experienced
when you witnessed the martyrdom,
the crucifixion, and the death of your divine Son,
look upon me with eyes of compassion,
and awaken in my heart a tender
commiseration for those sufferings,
as well as a sincere detestation
of my sins, in order that,
being disengaged from all undue affection
for the passing joys of this earth,
I may sigh after the eternal Jerusalem,
and that henceforward all my thoughts
and all my actions may be directed
towards this one most desirable object:
Honor, glory, and love to our divine Lord Jesus,
and to the holy and immaculate Mother of God.

✝Tʜᴇ Fᴇᴀsᴛ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇ Exᴀʟᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇ Hᴏʟʏ Cʀᴏss | 14ᴛʜ Sᴇᴘᴛᴇᴍʙᴇʀ

The miraculous discovery of the cross on September 14, 326, by Saint Helen, mother of Constantine, while she was on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, is the origin of the tradition of celebrating the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross on this date.

We adore you,
Lord Jesus Christ,

throughout the whole world,

for by your holy cross you
have redeemed the world.

Jesus said to Nicodemus: ‘No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.’ For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him (Jn 3:13-17).

Dearest Mother Mary, your conception was immaculate and your birth glorious. You were conceived without sin, born without sin, and remained sinless throughout your life. Please pray for me, that I will more fully imitate your many virtues, so that I can be a fitting instrument of your divine Son in the world.

💗 Wishing all fathers a blessed and joyful 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲.

Today, we give thanks to God for the gift of fatherhood and for the love, wisdom, protection and guidance that fathers give to their families. May God bless all fathers, and may St Joseph be their example and guide. We also remember with love those fathers who have gone before us and remain forever in our hearts. 🙏

September is dedicated to 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬 / 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟕 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲.

The Blessed Virgin Mary grants 7 graces to the souls who honour her daily by saying 7 Hail Mary's and meditating on her tears & sorrows.

𝙏𝙃𝙀 7 𝙂𝙍𝘼𝘾𝙀𝙎:
1. I will grant peace to their families.
2. They will be enlightened about the divine mysteries.
3. I will console them in their pains & I will accompany them in their work.
4. I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.
5. I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy & I will protect them at every instant of their lives.
6. I will visibly help them at the moment of their death, they will see the face of their Mother.
7. I have obtained from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and sorrows, will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness since all their sins will be forgiven & my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy.

✝ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭. 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 | 𝟐𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭

Today, we commemorate St. John the Baptist's martyrdom, marking the ultimate sacrifice he made for his faith by boldly speaking the truth and preparing the way for Jesus Christ. The celebration serves as a reminder for Christians to remain steadfast in their beliefs, stand for what is right, and even decrease their own desires so that Christ may increase in their lives, mirroring John's humble and courageous example.

St. John the Baptist, you were given a holy mission and sanctified in the womb of your mother in preparation for that mission. You never deviated from your calling and always pointed the way to Christ, the Saviour of all. Please pray for me, that I will have the same courage you had and the resolve to fulfil my duties, no matter the cost.

St Bartholomew the Apostle was one of the Twelve Apostles, traditionally identified with Nathanael in the Gospel of John, he was known for his sincere faith and devotion to Christ. After the Holy Spirit’s descent upon the Apostles on Pentecost, Bartholomew traveled to foreign lands to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus.

Dear Lord, we thank You for giving us St. Bartholomew as an example of holiness. Help us to imitate the love of You he showed by answering the call of Jesus to be an Apostle.
