Mirjana has chosen Fr Petar Ljubicic as the priest who will announce the Medjugorje secrets.

He was chosen by Mirjana when he was 38 years old. Today he is 79, and will be 80 in October.

The night before Mirjana was to get married (from her book 'My Heart Will Triumph' p.215-216):

Later that night, I was sitting with my Mum when a knock at the door startled us. We opened the door to find some Italian pilgrims. One woman presented a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

"It would be our honour if you'll carry this bouquet tomorrow", she said.

I suddenly realised that Marko and I had worked so hard planning the wedding that I overlooked an important detail - I forgot to order my bouquet. In a small village like Medjugorje, flower arrangements had to be ordered far in advance, and there were no flower shops nearby to buy one at the last minute. I would have been distraught to realize my mistake the next day.

"Thank you , thank you!" I said, crying. I hugged the Italians tightly. "You dont know what this means to me."

The Italians were surprised and delighted by my reaction. They must have thought that I really liked flowers, but I was just awestruck to witness yet another example of how God always knows what we need - often before we ourselves even know we need it.

One day Our Lady will not appear in Medjugorje anymore:

Back on Christmas Day in 1989 Our Lady gave us a message to not only read and live her messages, but told us that there will be a day in the future, where she wont be amongst us giving us messages from heaven.

As of September 2026, Our Lady has been providing us with guidance for 45 years, but one day, this will end.

She however, has left many messages to guide the people of today and the generations of the future.

This is her Christmas message of 1989:

December 25, 1989 "Dear children! Today I bless you in a special way with my motherly blessing and I am interceding for you before God that He gives you the gift of conversion of the heart. For years I am calling you and exhorting you to a deep spiritual life in simplicity, but you are so cold. Therefore, little children, I ask you to accept and live the messages with seriousness, so that your soul will not be sad when I will no longer be with you, and when I will no longer lead you like insecure children in their first steps. Therefore, little children, every day read the messages that I have given you and transform them into life. I love you and therefore I am calling you all to the way of salvation with God. Thank you for having responded to my call."

From 'My Heart Will Triumph':

Our Lady's ethereal beauty captivated us from the very beginning. One day during an apparition, we asked a childish question. "How is it possible that you are so beautiful?"

Our Lady gently smiled. "I am beautiful because I love," she said. If you want to be beautiful, then love".

After the apparition, Jakov, who was only ten years old, looked at us and said, "I don't think she was telling the truth".

I (Mirjana) reproached him. "How can you say that the Blessed Mother didn't tell the truth?"

"Well look at some of us," he replied. "Some of us can love our entire lives and we'd still never be beautiful like she said!"

We all laughed.

Marija on Our Lady:

"Every time I'm asked about her, I realise that I just don't have the words to describe her. No words are good enough. I can say that she is beautiful, radiant, but even these words are not good enough description. She is also very beautiful and she smiles so much, but it's more than this.

"She is physically beautiful. Her hair is so black and her eyes so blue and she has such beautiful colour in her cheeks. We see her as really young, perhaps twenty-two or three, and so beautiful, but again, it's more than that.

We asked here one day, I remember, for what reason why are you so beautiful?, and she smiled at us and said, 'Because I love,' and we realised then how important love is. She is so full of love.

Gumno

On the evening of August 2nd, 1981, the Medjugorje visionaries Mirjana and Marija went with 40 locals to an area known as Gumno. There they prayed and waited, then soon after Our Lady appeared in front of them.

Some people had asked if they could touch Our Lady, in which she replied that they could.

One by one, the visionaries took their hands and guided them to touch Our Lady’s dress. Only the visionaries could see what they were touching. Some said they could feel a type of ‘electricity’ when they touched Our Lady’s dress.

After a while however, Mirjana started to notice black spots forming on her dress, and the spots congealed into a large, coal-coloured stain. It made Mirjana cry.

Marija also started crying at the sight of Our Lady’s dress going black.

Our Lady said the stains represented sins that had never been confessed. She suddenly vanished.

After praying a while, they told the people what they had seen. They were upset and someone suggested that everyone there should do to confession, which they did the next day.

Interview with Marija about Purgatory:

Q: What can you tell us about Purgatory?

Marija: It was very misty; I heard a lot of voices begging for our prayers... they are looking for our prayers to help them enter Heaven someday. The people in Purgatory know God exists, and they are looking for our prayers to help them enter Heaven and be with God. Our Lady told us to tell all people to pray very often for them to be released from Purgatory into Heaven.

Q: Has Our Lady ever revealed to you if a soul already in Purgatory can be lost and go to hell?

Marija: No, once you are in Purgatory, you can only go to Heaven.
