It might look a bit odd with skinny wheels but we have swapped the big 710s out in favour of the smaller 480’s for the maize session and matched the spray unit on 60 inch spacing. Less crop damage from driving over rows is the aim of the game. 😅

Great day to be doing silage!
This Oats and Lucerne paddock is going into 5foot round bale tube silage for a local dairy farmer.

Maize prep 2025, this year we have done an extensive nutrient budget for our maize with the aim to achieve a 21+DM/ha yield.
As part of the program, we are deep ripping to 12 inches and putting down liquid fert at 8 inches deep.

The ripper is set up on the same 30inch spacing that the planter is and the same A-B line used.

Ripping is being completed as the second last pass before planting, with power harrowing being the last pass. This is to reduce the compaction back on the newly ripped rows.

Can’t wait to see the results and watch this infection grow!! 🌽
