🌱 Inspiring the next generation at STK 🌱 A big thank you to local Year 9 students from The King David School for joining us at St Kilda Cemetery as part of Project Cultivate.

More than 40 students spent the day exploring the cemetery's rich history, learning about local biodiversity and discovering how green spaces can support both people and wildlife. Their energy, curiosity and enthusiasm made the day a pleasure to be part of.

It was especially encouraging to see so many thoughtful questions and genuine interest in the role cemeteries play as important community and environmental spaces.

The King David School regularly participates in community service activities. Improving biodiversity and caring for a community asset was a perfect and unusual choice.

Days like this help build local connections, inspire environmental stewardship and grow community support for Project Cultivate. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success. 💚🌿

Whether you're an experienced birdwatcher or simply enjoy being outdoors, it's easy to get involved. Spend 20 minutes counting the birds you see and hear, then submit your results through the Aussie Bird Count app.

From colourful parrots and honeyeaters to tawny frogmouths and tiny fairy wrens, our parks provide important habitat for a remarkable diversity of species, making them some of Melbourne's most unexpected biodiversity hotspots.

Ever shared a drink with a skink? 💧🦎
Well, now you can help one out.

Our new Tap to Habitat water bowls have arrived at St Kilda Cemetery, providing a safe and reliable water source for local wildlife. The bowl will fill when you use the tap and help support everything from native bees to blue-tongue lizards and birds.

These natural stone bowls work alongside our habitat restoration efforts, including Project Cultivate, to create a healthier, more biodiverse landscape at STK.

🌼💛 Celebrating National Wattle Day 💛🌼
As the first signs of spring emerge, the bright blooms of wattles are lighting up our cemeteries and memorial parks.
Wattles are among Australia's most recognisable native plants and are celebrated for their resilience, diversity and connection to the Australian landscape. Across our sites, wattles provide vibrant colour, seasonal interest, and valuable food and shelter for birds, insects and other wildlife. 🐝🦋🐦 They also hold deep cultural significance for First Nations peoples and remain an important part of Australia's natural and cultural heritage. 🌿

🌼 150,000 reasons to celebrate 🌼

Project Cultivate has now planted more than 150,000 native and indigenous wildflowers, groundcovers and shrubs across St Kilda Cemetery. 🌿

With over 60 species added, this historic site will start to become a living mosaic of colour, habitat and biodiversity. 🌸🦋🐝

From the striking blue flowers of Blue Pincushion 💙 to the bright red Running Postman ❤️, and the dancing Spear Grass 🌾 and soft White Candles 🤍, each season will bring new blooms, more pollinators and a healthier urban ecosystem.

We welcome you to visit and watch the growth as it transforms this beautiful site over the coming months. 🌱✨

Cemeteries aren’t often the first place people think of when it comes to environmental action. 🌿 This , we’re showing what’s possible when we rethink their role.

Across more than 370 hectares, our 11 cemeteries and memorial parks are more than places of remembrance. Here are some of the ways we’re making progress, from reducing emissions and shifting to renewable energy, to strengthening biodiversity and increasing our recycled waste stream.

Together, these efforts show what environmental stewardship looks like in practice. 🌏
