Please contact us on the number below or visit our website www.tbi.org.au Since our founding in 1930, we have been enriching the lives of our congregants through prayer, study, and celebration. We believe in a living Judaism that respects our history while simultaneously engaging with the opportunities and challenges of the modern world. Guided by the principles of egalitarianism and inclusion, we

form a welcoming congregation that strives to create a deep, lasting connection to Jewish life. Temple Beth Israel offers a wide variety of programs, classes, services, lifecycle events, festivals, choirs, and clubs. We invite you to join us here on Facebook, in our digital home at www.tbi.org.au, and at our community centre. Every week, we celebrate Shabbat with on both Friday evening and Saturday morning. Kabbalat Shabbat (Friday evening) begins at 6.15pm. Shabbat Shacharit (Saturday morning) begins at 10am.

Recently, we took a visit to Victor Majzner's studio to get an insight into his work on the Torah Project. It was a pleasure to learn all about what went into his designs - the influences, iconography and inspiration for his artwork - and his excitement for the project. Many would have seen Victor's artwork around TBI, as well as in exhibitions over the years, but did you know that he has also designed the silverwork for our new Torah, as well as the Mantle (cover)? The designs are now in production by our silversmith, Chris, and embroiderer Fay Bock, and we're all very excited to see how Victor's wonderful drawings come to life for our new Sefer Torah!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have sponsored the project so far and encourage anyone who hasn't already to get involved in this initiative that's really bringing everyone together in a wonderful way.

If you are interested in finding out more or supporting the project, more info can be found at tbi.org.au/torah-project

As part of our Mitzvah Term in the B'nei Mitzvah program, we were delighted to welcome Magen David Adom (MDA) last week to run a workshop for our bar and bat mitzvah students!

Students got the chance to learn about the life-saving work MDA does, and how the mitzvah of Pikuach Nefesh (פיקוח נפש) - saving a life - can be applied for them in their post B'nei Mitzvah life!

Thank you to MDA for coming to teach our students!

What a powerful Shavuot celebration last week!

Our family activities saw kids running around to different stations, including a jumping castle, sundae-making, craft activities and more as they overcame each "obstacle" on the way to Sinai. It was fun and delicious, and we finished with a lively family service.

It was a pleasure to recognise the Harris family with the Bikurim Award at our service (Kol Hakavod!), after which we were spoiled with a delicious feast - thank you to those who contributed a dish, and to Lili for the care, love and skill you put into our community spread. David Harris was awarded a second time for his cheesecake entry, but we were the real winners getting to sample it and the other contestants' dairy delights!

We would also like to say a HUGE thank you to all of our speakers for contributing their Controversial Ideas for Tikkun Leil Shavuot. We appreciate the time and effort put into what you brought to TBI, and you were all brilliant!

We hope you all had a joyful, meaningful, delicious and educational Shavuot!

Happy Shavuot! - Chag Sameach! - from TBI. Tonight, we remember the moment our people stood together at Sinai, receiving the gift of Torah. May this festival bring joy, meaning and connection. May Jewish wisdom, learning and community bring comfort and joy to us all.

We look forward to welcoming you to our events and services tonight. Join us from 4.30pm for family activities, 6pm for our service, 7pm dinner, then Tikkun Leil Shavuot (with dairy delights in between) from 7.45pm until late.

Michelle or (Cantor) Michel? We wanted to congratulate Israel's Noam Bettan and Australia's Delta Goodrem on their Eurovision results last week! And serenade our own Michel too...!

On this day, we celebrate the reunification of Jerusalem, reminding us that this city was built on the principles of peace and unity. Rabbi Allison Conyer and ARZA Australia President Ayal Marek discuss this day in our current context, especially when recent legislation passed by the Israeli Government seeks to limit egalitarian and pluralistic prayer at the Kotel. We encourage you to get involved with ARZA's campaign to ensure that prayer remains accessible to all.
