Peace Lutheran Church - St Albans Peace is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church of Australia whose worship focuses on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the gifts of His sacraments.

Our congregation’s mission statement is: -

For many Christians today is Palm Sunday - remembering Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey in fulfilment of Zechariah's prophecy. Palm branches signified victory over death, and were used in ancient processions when kings returned from conquering; the people knew this, and waved palm branches and laid them on the road as Jesus entered the city.
At the base of the branches of many palm trees are sharp and vicious spikes, which can impale the hands of those harvesting them. Maybe this is a reason why palm symbolism appeared early on in Christian art. The victory over death won by Christ could only be accomplished as he allowed himself to be pierced on the cross for our transgressions.
For us, life is only found for us as we come to the cross and are crucified with Christ, so that it's no longer we who live, but Christ lives in us.
