CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION 2026
At St. Benedict’s Shrine. †

07/06/2026

CORPUS CHRISTI: To celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, our Parish held the annual Corpus Christi Candlelight Procession on the Vigil of Corpus Christi.

PROCESSION TO THE FOUR ALTARS

In our Parish for the Feast of Corpus Christi, we follow a custom found in central Europe, a Eucharistic procession to the four altars. These four altars are stations representing the four corners of the earth, or the four cardinal directions: north, south, east, and west.

At each altar, a Gospel was read from each of the four evangelists that speaks of the mystery of the Eucharist.
The procession focused exclusively on the mystery of the Eucharist in the Church and the world, as its beating heart and the source and summit in the life of the Church.

At each altar, benediction was given with the monstrance, and at the end of the procession, benediction was given to the four directions. In the procession, we gave thanks for the gift of the Eucharist and asked for God’s blessing on our parish and the whole world.

Due to the Procession there are no Confessions on that Saturday evening. Parish groups and individuals are invited to bring banners to the procession.

It would be easier for the world to survive without the sun than to do so without the Holy Mass.
— St. Pio of Pietrelcina

If we knew the value of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, how much greater effort we would put forth in order to assist at it!
— St. John Marie Vianney.
