West Tamar "Auld Kirk" Presbyterian Church

West Tamar "Auld Kirk" Presbyterian Church The West Tamar “Auld Kirk” Presbyterian Church is situated on the beautiful Tamar River, just North of the Batman Bridge at Sidmouth.

We gather every Sunday at 10AM and ALL are welcome to come and join us! We are a part of the Presbyterian Church of Tasmania, and our Sunday services are Christ centred and Bible based. When you join us, you can expect the Bible to be read and taught, and we will sing a mixture of contemporary and classical hymns. We will also be led in times of prayer, and our services include regular input for c

hildren and families. Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is celebrated on the last Sunday of each month. Good Friday services are at 9:30AM and our Christmas Day services are held at 9AM.

At most of our services, we take some time to focus on our children through a short Kid’s Talk.

Jesus welcomed children, and we seek to do the same.

God’s Word is for the whole church — including our children — and the Kid’s Talk is one simple way we help them hear and grow in the truth of Jesus.

Youth is back on this Friday night 🌙

We’ll eat some snacks, play a few games, open the Bible together, and explore a simple but important question:

what actually makes someone a christian?
can it be inherited?

In every service, we spend time in prayer together — adoring God, confessing our sin, and praying the Lord’s Prayer.

Adoration lifts our eyes off ourselves and onto who God is, reminding us of His greatness and goodness.

And confession reminds us that Christians are not people who never sin, but people who no longer have to hide. We come honestly before God because Jesus is merciful.

We sing every week because Christians have always been a singing people.

God gives us songs because truth is meant to reach not just the mind, but the heart.

There’s something grounding about slowing down and walking carefully through a Gospel together.

We’ve been journeying verse by verse through the Gospel of Luke, listening to the words and works of Jesus week by week.

We’d love to invite you to listen along and explore Luke with us.

You can find the latest entries in the series here:

All of our services begin with a 'Call to Worship'.

This reminds us that coming along to church is not mainly our meeting about God.

It is God gathering His people to hear from Him and respond to Him.

Whether you’ve been around church for years, or you’re just thinking about coming along again, you’d be very welcome.

We’ll gather together to worship Jesus, open God’s Word, pray, sing, and share in Communion as we remember Christ’s body given for us and His blood poured out for us.

Stick around for a cuppa afterwards too ☕️
We’d love to see you there.
