* "RELEASE BANDI SINGHS" *

Scottish Sikh political prisoner Jagtar Singh Johal thanked God and called for the release of other Sikh political prisoners in his first public statement after nearly nine-years imprisoned.

Jaggi spoke briefly with media in Punjabi, thanking God before highlighting the ongoing plight of other Sikh political prisoners ("Bandi Singhs".) His lawyer Jaspal Singh Manjhpur (a former political prisoner self-taught to become a world renowned human rights lawyer) also spoke with media, where he confirmed Jaggi's bail conditions mean he must remain in Delhi, and cannot yet return to Punjab.
