Yesterday was an emotional day as we farewelled our beloved parish priest, Fr Ronald Masilang RCJ, who has faithfully served our parish community over the past 18 months.

Fr Ronald created the beautiful tile accompanying this post as a special expression of his appreciation to all our parishioners. His message, "To all our parishioners, THANK YOU SO MUCH! God bless you all," is a heartfelt reflection of the love and gratitude he has for our community.

Fr Ronald was gifted a tea towel from Shepparton, a fitting gift in recognition of his well-known love of cooking! He was also presented with a returning boomerang, crafted by local Yorta Yorta people. The boomerang carries special meaning as Fr Ronald returns to the Philippines, while also serving as a reminder that he will always be welcome back here at St Mel’s Parish.

In his farewell, Fr Ronald thanked our community for our support throughout both the joys and challenges of parish life. He asked us to keep him in our prayers, as he will keep us in his.

Thank you, Fr Ronald, for sharing your faith, warmth and presence with our parish community. You, with your recognisable welcoming smile, will be greatly missed.

Please join us in wishing Fr Ronald every blessing as he begins this next chapter.

FEAST OF JULY FIRST

The Rogationists in the Diocese kf Sandhurst celebrated at St. Mel’s Parish the Feast of July First. On the 1st of July 1886, St. Hannibal Mary Di Francia (Founder of the Rogationists and the Daughters of Divine Zeal), after years of preparation, realised the the first coming and the permanent dwelling of the Eucharistic Jesus in the institution in the midst of the poor in the Avignone Quarter of Messina, Sicily, Italy.

By divine inspiration, St. Hannibal Mary chose the first day of July which is the center of the year. Hence, this commemoration is a powerful reminder that Jesus Christ, present in the Eucharist, must be the very center of our Christian life.

COUPLES FOR CHRIST (CFC) IN SHEPPARTON

After 5 weekends, today St. Mel’s Parish has the joy of having 8 couples and one single lady completed the series of Christian Life Program (CLP) Talks and activities facilitated by the Couples for Christ (CC) Victoria.

These participants had their simple graduation ceremonies and become the First Batch of Couples for Christ (CFC) and Singles for Christ (SFC) in St. Mel’s Parish and in Shepparton.

We accompany with our prayers these newest members of the CFC as they begin their journey of ministering to other families in our parish community.

We also thank the CFC Service Team, the speakers and CFC Officials from Victoria for their generous and loving support all throughout the CLP weeks.
