EASTER TRIDUUM 2026

St. Mel’s parishioners participated in the solemn celebration of this year’s Easter Triduum.

The Holy Thursday, which commemorates the Last Supper of our Lord as well as the institution of the sacraments of the Body and Blood of Christ (the Eucharist) and the Priesthood, was highlighted by the washing of the feet of the 12 volunteer parishioners. A very moving gesture which recalls Christ’s invitation to a humble service to one another.

The Good Friday recalls the passion and death of Jesus, and the solemn veneration of the cross has lead us to meditate on the sufferings and the cruel death that He endured.

Finally, the Easter Vigil, which started with the blessing of the new fire and of the Paschal Candle, was a joyful memorial of the Resurrection of Jesus. By His glorious resurrection, Jesus has conquered sin and destroyed death. He has lead us from darkness to light, from slavery to freedom, from death to life.

For this year's Easter message, Fr Brian Boyle, takes us to St Martin's of Tours, Muskerry, where he remembers, as a boy, sitting next to his grandfather at Mass.
He reflects on the way his grandparents and the people of Muskerry passed down their faith from one generation to the next and asks us all to think how we can be missionary disciples in our world today.https://mailchi.mp/sandhurst/easter2026
