If we know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more will our Heavenly Father? How much more… God is so good, his love for you so vast, he wants you to have good gifts. He wants you to be filled and empowered by His Spirit. He isn’t waiting for you to prove you deserve it,he isn’t waiting for you to earn his favour, he doesn’t want you to first reach a certain level of maturity.

And yet he is waiting. What for? for you to ask. How much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask? What incredible moments and experiences, what great joy and strength, what miracles and breakthrough, what freedom awaits those who will simply ask.

This week, will you ask him to pour out the Holy Spirit on you? Will you ask the Holy Spirit to fill and empower you? Will you ask in faith, knowing how much more he will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask?

There is a gift which is promised to you, waiting to be received. You cannot earn it, you don’t deserve it, but that the Father wants you to receive. He wants to pour out the Holy Spirit on you. Yet why would Jesus tell the disciples to wait for this gift? Could it be that the obedience to wait, seek and pray, driven by a faith that would wait “until” is directly tied to our ability to receive this gift? That if we would seek, believing that God rewards those who diligently seek, that those who seek find, that rivers of living water will truly flow from those who believe, then God will deliver on his promise.

Jesus asks the disciples to wait and so they wait, and they pray. They press in and seek God for 10 days, and the result … The spirit is poured out on every person who waited. In a flash of fire there is a new beginning. Lives are transformed, the timid become bold, the supernatural becomes natural, and the church explodes as the lost are saved.

This week we are praying as a church, seeking God, and believing not just that we need the Holy Spirit, not just that God can pour out the spirit on us, but that he will! We can’t wait for Pentecost Sunday!
