Dear Family and Friends
It's been much too long in between WOW emails due to an extremely busy month of May this end. What wonderful weather we are having at the moment though and to be inside at a computer is a bit of a wrench. But, like all of us, there are times when we know things must be addressed. This "weekly" 🙂 email was commenced as a way of reminding people what time the church service was for the week as we used to toggle between an 8 am start and a 10 am start. After Covid we moved both services to 9 am starts. However, feedback has indicated that the WOW email does more than just remind us of church times; it creates an opportunity to reflect on God's word and that is always a good thing and one worth giving up an hour of sunshine to do.
This week's readings are a bit of a mixed bag but all draw our attention to the fact that God wants us to live for Him, in harmony and of course, we know how extremely hard this is to do. For this reason, all of us who believe in Jesus, have been promised strength and guidance through the Holy Spirit and tomorrow we will focus on the Trinitarian nature of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. This week's Words Of Wisdom remind us of the great commission given to us by Jesus himself which highlights the Trinity:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28: 19)

Dear Family and Friends
Well, Autumn is finally here. It's rather nice to feel the cool change isn't it? The changing seasons remind me of God and how He has so intricately designed things for our benefit because winter brings many benefits. Colder temperatures and shorter days mean less daytime activity and more opportunities for earlier nights, a slower pace and a chance to slow down. Apparently colder temperatures have health benefits for us too; boosting our immune system and strengthening our heart. The earth, too, benefits through natural pest control and soil rejuvenation and so, although they have nothing to do with this week's set readings for Sunday, I have chosen the following as this week's Words Of Wisdom:
"He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and
knowledge to those who have understanding" (Daniel 2: 21)
These are important words to remember especially when we become frustrated and disillusioned with current world political events. We must always put our trust in God despite the perceived outlook because He changes things, He removes things and He gives us all we ever need.
Finally, Happy Mother's Day to all mums, aunts, grandmothers, big sisters and any other significant women who have helped to shape our lives. Why not show mum how much you appreciate her by bringing her to one of the two church services at St Luke's tomorrow? 9 am followed by Morning Tea and 4 pm followed by a meal. Give mum the night off cooking 🙂

Dear Family and Friends
Another short email for this week but the message from Jesus, used for this week's Words Of Wisdom need no real explanation:
"I am in the Father and the Father is in me" (John 14:10)
This was Jesus' response to Thomas, who, once again, was doubting the truth. And what about us? Do we doubt the truth or are we sure that God and Jesus are one and the same? Hard as it is to comprehend, God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit something only possible for the One who created all that is and all that will be. And the reassuring thing that this chapter of John tells us is that God listens to us; and, when we pray in His name, will grant us all we need as verse 14 says; "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." But we mustn't make the mistake of thinking that "anything" means ANYTHING. When we honestly ask in Jesus' name then we know that He will only listen and grant to us, those things that are right, and good and needed. Our intention needs to be right and our requests need to be for the glory of Him who grants the answer to prayer.
I pray that this week, as we pray, we earnestly seek God's will be us and not just our own.
