Celebrating Creation Gippsland

Celebrating Creation Gippsland Part of "Season of Creation" an interdenominational environmental focus. This page is hosted by clergy from the Gippsland Anglican Diocese.

This is a place to share photos, artworks poems and prayers, that illustrate the beauty of creation; particularly the stunning natural environment of Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. We acknowledge the First Nations people of this region as the traditional custodians of the land on which the Diocese of Gippsland serves, and pay our respects to past, present, and emerging Elders of the GunaiKurnai,

Boonwurrung, Bidawal and Ngarigo/Monero peoples. We welcome anyone who would like to share photos, art work, poems or prayers that encourage others to reflect on the beauty of creation. This is not a place for theological or political debate, or the sharing of non-relevant posts or information. Administrators will moderate posts that are inappropriate for this forum. We know during this time of Covid related shutdowns, that many people are feeling disconnected from nature and places important to them. We hope that by sharing and viewing these images that people will feel connected to each other and to the world around them. This is a part of the international and inter-denominational "Season of creation" that runs from September 1st to October 4th. For further information see https://seasonofcreation.org/
From their website:
Christians join the Psalmist in proclaiming the Earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it. (Psalms 24:1) However, the current climate crisis is accelerating ecological instability, which results in the loss of habitats that are homes for millions of species, including humans whose homes are at risk due to climate conflict, loss and damage. As people of faith, our baptismal call compels us to till and keep God’s garden, and participate in the renewal of the whole inhabited Earth, so that life may flourish and all may have a just and sustainable home.

Maybe you can’t be outdoors or in nature at the moment - I wonder what signs of nature are within your house?
Here’s two pieces of art from our walls that still speak of the beauty of nature.
The cross stitch is part of a series of ladies, one for each season, lovingly crafted by my Grandmother.
The second a fantastic painting that we purchased from a community art market when living in Tatura (Northern Vic), an area surrounded by orchards which at this time of year blossom in the most incredible display of momentary and delicate beauty.
