📌 Help Us Celebrate 30 Years of Women's Ordination in Gippsland📌

In December 2026, the Diocese of Gippsland will mark 30 years since the ordination of our first woman priest.

We're looking to connect with women who have served as priests in Gippsland, and anyone ordained in the Diocese since 1996. If that's you, or someone you know, we'd love to hear from you as we prepare to celebrate this significant milestone.

Please contact The Very Rev’d Keren Terpstra for more information.

Whilst it is pitched for the month of June, it can be undertaken any time that may suit you and your people.

Our contributors this year are Dr Sallyanne Hart and Canon Daniel Lowe, and we’re grateful to Daniel and Sallyanne for their work in preparing the notes, prayers, and questions for reflection, which you can access here, along with all you need to know about how the BRC works:

Today, on National Sorry Day, we pause to remember the Stolen Generations and acknowledge the ongoing impacts of injustice and trauma experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We invite you to take a moment to reflect, pray, listen deeply, and join in the ongoing journey of truth, healing and reconciliation.

More information and resources can be found on the Common Grace post below.

Today marks National Sorry Day.

Since the tabling of the Bringing Them Home Report in 1997, this day has been recognised as an important moment to take responsibility as a nation and remember the Stolen Generations and share the truth of the trauma, pain and injustice that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities endured through child removal practices and policies.

It is a day to acknowledge and grieve the ongoing impact of the Stolen Generations on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, and a moment to join together in lament and prayer.

“What does Sorry mean? On National Sorry Day, the word ‘sorry’ carries many layers of meaning. It speaks to sorrow — grieving the pain, trauma, loss, and ongoing impacts experienced by the Stolen Generations and their families. It is about acknowledging that serious wrongs were committed, and accepting responsibility for the role governments, churches, and institutions played in those harms. It is also an expression of compassion and solidarity — standing with survivors and communities in truth-telling and healing. And finally, it is an apology, both personal and national, reflected powerfully in the National Apology in 2008.” Safina Stewart, proud Wuthathi and Mabuiag Island woman

Today, we invite you to deeply listen to the voices of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters and recognise ‘sorry’ as an important ongoing step on our nation’s healing journey. As followers of Jesus, may our love and our ‘sorry’ be not only in word but in actions and in truth (1 John 3:18).

We echo the calls of the Healing Foundation for the Australian Government to implement the outstanding recommendations of the Bringing Them Home Report (1997).
