Bishop Karol marked a joyous milestone today, celebrating his 60th birthday surrounded by faith, community, and grace. 🙏 Mental Health, Faith & Healing — What the Vatican Just Reminded Us

Is God significant in the mental health journey? Absolutely — but not as a replacement for care.

The Vatican’s recent message is so important, especially for those who’ve felt their struggle means they lack faith:

✅ Mental illness is NOT a sin, not punishment, not a sign of weak faith.
✅ No wound ever takes away your God-given dignity.
✅ Faith is a companion — not a cure. Prayer & spiritual support walk with professional care, not instead of it.
✅ The Church’s role? To listen first. To be a safe space. To accompany — not judge.

"Before you speak, listen; before you explain, accompany."

For many, spirituality brings comfort, hope, and meaning on hard days — that’s real and powerful. But God also gave us doctors, therapists, and support systems. It’s not either/or. It’s both/and.

If you’re walking through a mental health crisis: You are not alone. Your faith doesn’t have to fix this — and neither do you. Reach out. Speak up. Seek help. Your worth isn’t found in how you feel — it’s found in who you are, always loved, just as you are. ❤️

💬 What’s your experience? Has faith been part of your healing journey?

👇 If you know someone who needs to hear this — share it. It might be exactly what they need today.

Give Back to God What Belongs to God
In today's Gospel, Jesus says, “Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God.” The coin bears Caesar's image, but we bear God's image. We belong to Him.
That is good news. Our lives are not accidents. We are loved, known, and cherished by God. Even when life feels uncertain, the Lord remains at work, guiding history and walking with His people.
On World Mission Sunday, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that every baptized person is a missionary disciple. Mission is not only about travelling to distant places. It begins wherever we are, whenever we reflect Christ's love through kindness, compassion, and hope.
This mission is especially needed as many people struggle with anxiety, loneliness, grief, trauma, and other mental health challenges. Often the most powerful witness we can offer is not a sermon but our presence: a listening ear, a word of encouragement, a heart that refuses to let another person suffer alone.
The Gospel calls us to give God what belongs to God. Among the gifts we can offer are our time, our compassion, our mercy, and our care for one another. When we do so, we become signs of Christ's healing presence in the world.
May our parish be a community of mission, accompaniment, and fraternity, where faith is lived, hope is shared, and every person discovers that they are loved by God and never walks alone. Amen

"Give to God what bears His image"

Gospel: Matthew 22:15–21

Jesus asks: “Whose image is this?” — and they answer, “Caesar’s.” Then He says: “Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God.”

Antoni Gaudí understood this deeply. He did not simply copy what others had done; his originality flowed from seeing the world as God’s own artwork — branches, waves, mountains all bearing the Creator’s signature. He built the Sagrada Família not to glorify himself, but to lift our eyes upward, believing that “the straight line belongs to man, the curve to God.” His soaring spires are earth reaching toward heaven — a reminder that we, too, are made in God’s image, and so our lives belong to Him.

Caesar’s image is stamped on a coin — temporary, passing. But God’s image is stamped on you — eternal, beloved. Gaudí’s work whispers what today’s Gospel declares: give earthly matters their due, but give your heart, your life, your whole self back to the One whose likeness you bear. That is our true aspiration: to reflect God’s image so faithfully that our lives themselves become a prayer rising toward heaven. ✨

Dr. Luigi Carbone and Professor Stefano Margaritora have provided the following update on the Pope’s postoperative recovery:

This morning, the Holy Father underwent the blood tests and chest X-ray scheduled after surgery. The results confirm that his postoperative recovery is progressing normally: the values are within the expected range for the type of operation performed.

The Holy Father has undergone respiratory physiotherapy and has begun walking around his room. He has resumed eating normally and had breakfast and lunch.

His recovery is proceeding as expected.
