A number of weeks ago we were so blessed to have Brett return to share a powerful word of scripture and testimony of God’s faithfulness in working across generations in his own life and also in the little known story of Rizpah in 2 Samuel 21. Rizpah - a mother who refused to give up and to let go. She stayed when it was hard, struggled against time and seasons to watch over the bodies of her sons. What the world considered worthless, she declared precious. Her actions caught the attention of a king and changed the course of a nation.
When we feel tired, overlooked, stressed, remember your presence matters more than your perfection. You don’t have to be perfect to be powerful.
God uses the image of a mother in Rizpah to describe His own heart. God takes what looks like shame and turns it into honour. He stays even when everyone else has left. He calls sons and daughters back to dignity and restores what is lost.
Let’s be a church that shows God’s love.
Love stays
Love fights for people
Love restores dignity.
