Sorry friends and family for being so slack at posting recently. I will endeavour to remedy this.
I am pretty disabled these days mainly with peripheral neuropathy and arthritis in my ankles, knees, hips and hands. I have to walk with a stick and am only good for about half a kilometre at this stage. On the good side my diabetes is well under control and I have lost 27kg.
We had been planning to do a big trip to England, Scotland, France and Bali. We were hoping to meetup with friends and family and the prompt was to go to our niece’s wedding in Brittany. Working through a travel agent we were having great difficulty getting an itinerary that suited us but were still negotiating.
I then developed pains in my hand accompanied by symptoms that gave me some cause for alarm. I went to the Townsville University Hospital ED, was triaged reasonably quickly and given a blood test. News came back that the infection markers were high and I was to be admitted immediately. X-rays followed and I then had my hand operated on. The surgeons cleaned out the wound and sewed me up again. I was on antibiotics at this stage. After a week they operated again and once more cleaned out infected tissue leaving the wound with a drain which I had to cart around with me if I needed to move anywhere. A week later I had a final operation and they sewed my hand up.
At this stage the trip has gone out of the door and I have to do a considerable amount of remedial work to get my right hand working again. I am having the stitches removed on Tuesday and there are remedial sessions booked. I’ll keep you informed.
Yours Aye
Philip

Recently on the verge of sleep, I see what looks like sheet lightening on the inside of my eyelids. It is the shekinah calling me. I meet her somewhere beyond the Milky Way and we dance together from the beginning of the universe to the present day. I wake refreshed.

Happy New Year everyone. It’s not New Year yet you might comment. But there are more years than the Gregorian calendar we all recognise. Today is Advent Sunday the beginning of the church year. The Advent season is a time for preparation for the Christmas, the birth of Christ. As such the church year is not so much a temporal calendar as a spiritual one.
We all know Christmas as a time for happiness and families and exchanging of gifts, but there is another side to this great festival. As Angelus Silesius wrote: If Christ a thousand times in Bethlehem be born and not once in our hearts; then shall our souls be forlorn...
So, there is an outer form of Xmas and an inner. Both lead to joy, but only with the inner does the joy last forever.
There are four qualities we consider in the four Sundays in the Advent season. Today being the first Sunday in Advent, the quality is: Discrimination. We certainly do not mean that in the sense of being prejudiced but rather in its original sense of making good sensible choices.
Let me close with the words of Robbie Burns:
The let us pray that come it may
As come it will for aw that
That pith ‘O sense and pride ‘O worth
Shall bear the gree for aw that.
For aw that an aw that
Its comin yet for aw that
That man tae man the hale world o’er
Shall brithers be for aw that

It's true

Fair enough. (and choose a set of the Ancient Greek and Hebrew manuscripts realizing that there are other ones)
