AR RUKUN MADRASAH SLEEPOVER - Growing Up With the Prophet ﷺ
Alhamdulillah, what a wonderful night of learning, laughter, friendship and memories at our Madrasah Sleepover!
We kicked things off with games and activities, followed by delicious homemade pizzas that the children had the opportunity to prepare themselves, alongside lamb mandi — a special request by our students.
But the highlight of the night was our Treasure Hunt!
This wasn't just an ordinary treasure hunt. Hidden around the masjid were boxes containing something far more valuable than gold or prizes — knowledge! 🤓
Each team had to search for these hidden treasures, discover the information within, and remember as much as they could. Once time was up, the real challenge began! The children had to put their newly discovered knowledge to the test in a quiz, with the winning team taking home a prize.
Through this activity, they learnt about the young Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, their remarkable lives, and how the Prophet ﷺ treated, nurtured, encouraged and placed trust in children and youth.
The message was simple: knowledge is a treasure worth searching for, preserving and carrying throughout our lives.
Throughout the sleepover, we performed Maghrib, ‘Isha and Fajr prayers in congregation, allowing the children to experience the beauty of spending a night in the masjid.
We also introduced them to the practice of I‘tikaf, explaining its rules and etiquettes, and how, with the right intention, their time in the masjid can become an act of worship. Even their rest and sleep could be rewarded!
The rest of the night was spent strengthening friendships, sharing laughter and simply enjoying one another's company.
We recognise that for many children, one of the reasons they look forward to Madrasah is the friendships they build. And that is something we want to nurture.
While friendships may be what initially draws them to Madrasah, our hope is that these experiences will eventually connect their hearts to something greater — the masjid, their faith and their Muslim identity.
We want our children to see the masjid not merely as a place where they come to pray or attend classes, but as a place where they belong. A place filled with good memories, meaningful friendships, beneficial knowledge and a sense of community.
Because Islamic education isn't just about what happens in the classroom. It is also about creating an environment where friendships are strengthened, Islamic identities are nurtured, and a lifelong love for the masjid is instilled.
May Allah bless our children, preserve their friendships, increase them in beneficial knowledge, and make them among those whose hearts are attached to the masjid. Ameen.
