The Rockhampton Parish community joined the National Public Rosary Rally yesterday, 10th October 2026, in response to our Lady of Fatima’s appeal to pray the Holy Rosary for world peace, for our families and for ourselves. A procession around St Joseph’s Cathedral precinct led by Fr Samuel culminated at the Cathedral Corso. An altar for the Blessed Mother was enhanced and made more meaningful by the Prayer Mat from Fiji, especially woven to Honour our Blessed Mother.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us in prayer and those who led the Rosary Intentions and the Five Joyful Mysteries, the Memorare and Prayer to St Michael. The support of the Multicultural community before, during and after the program was inspiring. We remember Merle for her pioneering spirit and leadership, and thanked her husband Mark who made a promise to continue her legacy.

We like to thank our Priests, Fr Alex, who gave us the Final Prayer and Blessings and agreed to be the Custodian of the community petitions and intercessions to the Blessed Mother; to Fr Jomon for leading the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and Fr Samuel for sharing today’s Gospel and asked us to emulate the Blessed Mother’s enduring love. Their wisdom and support inspired our spiritual journey.

May we continue to pray the Holy Rosary as part of our daily lives. St Joseph, pray for us; Holy Mother of Christ, pray for us. We pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

Join in prayer this Saturday for peace in our world!

October is the month of the Rosary. 📿🙏

Today, 7th October, is the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, which was established after the great and miraculous victory at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571, after Pope Saint Pius V asked all the faithful to pray the rosary and ask Our Lady to intercede.

There is much need for peace in our world today - let's continue to ask Our Lady to intercede for us, especially through the beautiful prayer of the Rosary.

The Rockhampton Catholic Community are offering some special opportunities to pray the rosary together throughout October:

- Friday 9th 5.30pm - Rosary and Benediction at Holy Family Church

- Saturday 10th 10.30am - Rosary Crusade at St Joseph's Cathedral Grounds

- Friday 16th 5.30pm - Rosary and Benediction at Our Lady Help of Christians Church

- Friday 23rd 5.30pm - Rosary and Benediction at St Mary's Church

Please join us as we pray for our families, our Church and our World. 🙏 🌎 🙏
