What if the part of your life that feels the most unnoticed is the very place God is preparing you? ⤵️
Before a man ever becomes Pope, there are often years that almost nobody sees. Years of ordinary service. He may spend decades as a priest and bishop, celebrating Mass, hearing confessions, teaching the faith, caring for people, and doing the work God has placed in front of him.
Over time, the Church may call him to carry greater responsibility. But that does not mean life becomes easier. It means more souls to care for, harder decisions to make, and a much heavier burden to carry.
That is why the hidden years matter.
Jesus said, “Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much” (Luke 16:10).
God often forms people slowly. He works through the duties that feel small, the prayers nobody hears, and the sacrifices nobody notices. We may think nothing important is happening, but God can be doing some of His deepest work there.
For a few men, that path of service eventually leads all the way to the papacy. The Pope is the Bishop of Rome and the successor of St. Peter, called to serve the whole Church and strengthen his brothers in the faith.
But before the white cassock, the crowds, and the responsibility of leading more than a billion Catholics, there were years when most people did not know his name. There were ordinary days of simply trying to stay faithful to what God had placed before him.
And maybe that is the part you need to hear.
The prayer you keep praying when nothing seems to change. The sacrifice nobody thanks you for. The small responsibility you keep showing up for when you are tired. God sees all of it.
You may not understand what He is doing with your faithfulness yet. But hidden does not mean useless, and small does not mean unimportant.
