Almighty God and Heavenly Father,
Whose kingdom rules over all and in whom there is perfect freedom.
We give you thanks on this Day for all who have served
in the defence of this country.
As we remember these men and women who served โ in the
ranks of our Navy, Army, Air Force and Merchant Navy, we give
thanks to you, gracious God, for their great sacrifices in conflict and in captivity โ for the cause of peace and freedom.
We also give you thanks for the dedicated service of Australian
military and police personnel across our world at the present
time.
In our nation of wealth, prosperity and comfort, let us not forget
the cost of these privileges which we now enjoy.
And may our hearts be filled with gratitude and humility towards
you, Almighty God, who sent your Son, Jesus Christ, to die as a
sacrifice on our behalf.
In His Name we pray. Amen.
This Anzac Day, members of congregation gathered at the Dawn and Morning Service, run by Club Rivers. We prayed the above prayer together as we honoured those who have served and reminded ourselves of our eternal hope in Christ.
Pictured are Dick (OAM) and Mavis Matthews. Dick and Mavis have been long term members of the church. Today Dick laid a wreath during the Anzac service, having served for over 25 years as the President of the Rivers Sub-Branch Australian Legion of Ex-Servicemen and Women.
