6th of October.
Saint Thomas the Apostle, also known as Didymus (meaning "the Twin"), was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus.
He is universally recognized for his initial skepticism regarding Jesus' resurrection, which earned him the famous moniker "Doubting Thomas". However, upon seeing and touching Christ's crucifixion wounds, Thomas made one of the most profound confessions of faith in the New Testament:
"My Lord and my God", becoming the first person to explicitly acknowledge Jesus' divinity in the Gospel narrative.

6 octombrie.
Sfântul Apostol Toma, cunoscut și sub numele de Didim („Geamǎnul”), a fost unul dintre cei doisprezece apostoli ai Domnului Christos.
El este recunoscut pretutindeni pentru scepticismul său inițial cu privire la Învierea Domnului, fapt care i-a adus supranumele celebru de „Toma Necredinciosul”.
Totuși, după ce a văzut și a atins rănile suferite de Domnul Hristos în timpul răstignirii, Toma a rostit una dintre cele mai profunde mărturisiri de credință din Noul Testament:
„Domnul meu și Dumnezeul meu”, devenind astfel prima persoană care a recunoscut în mod explicit divinitatea Domnului Christos în relatarea Evangheliei.

Sunday 4th of October.

2. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Luke 6).
Our Lord Jesus Christ means here by ‘mourning’ the grief one feels when looking at the evil of the world. The demeanour our Lord expected of his followers as they look at the immorality in others is one of sorrow.
Sorrow!
Not judgement !
But a humble melancholy that, first, sees its own moral poverty and, only then, grieves the ‘robbery and wrongdoing’ of others! (John Dickens).

3. “Poor in spirit “
‘Poverty of spirit’ is the personal acknowledgement of spiritual bankruptcy!
It is a conscious confession of unworthy before God. As such, it is the deepest form of repentance! (Don Carson)

Duminică, 4 octombrie.

2. „Ferice de cei ce plâng, căci ei vor fi mângâiați” (Luca 6).
Prin „plâns”, Domnul nostru Iisus Hristos se referă aici la durerea pe care o simte omul atunci când privește răul din lume. Atitudinea pe care Domnul o aștepta de la urmașii Săi, în timp ce privesc imoralitatea altora, este una de tristețe.
Tristețe!
Nu judecată!
Ci o melancolie smerită care, mai întâi, își vede propria sărăcie morală și, abia apoi, deplânge „jaful și nedreptatea” altora! (John Dickens).

3. „Săracii cu duhul”
„Sărăcia cu duhul” este recunoașterea personală a falimentului spiritual!
Este o mărturisire conștientă a propriei nevrednicii înaintea lui Dumnezeu. Ca atare, ea reprezintă cea mai profundă formă de pocăință! (Don Carson)

Sunday 4th October.
1. “Love your enemies”(Luke 6).

To "love your enemies" means choosing to treat people who mistrust, harm, or oppose you with active goodwill, kindness, and prayer rather than seeking revenge.
Core Meaning :
• Action, not emotion: This love is a choice of the will, not a warm fuzzy feeling. You do not have to like an opponent to love them.
• No payback: You give up your right to get even or wish evil on them.
• Good deeds: You help them when they have a need and bless them when they curse you.
• Prayer: You pray for the well-being and positive change of those who hurt you.
Jesus contrasts this with the common idea to hate opponents, stating that loving only friends shows no extra character.
What It Does Not Mean :
• No doormat: does not mean accepting abuse, ignoring injustice, or letting people walk over you.
• Setting boundaries: You can still set safe, wise boundaries while refusing to hold bitterness or hatred in your heart.
• No agreement: Loving someone does not mean you agree with their bad actions or bad choices.

Duminică, 4 octombrie.
„Iubiți-vă vrăjmașii” (Luca 6).

A-ți „iubi vrăjmașii” înseamnă să alegi să-i tratezi pe cei care nu au încredere în tine, îți fac rău sau ți se opun, sǎ-i tratezi cu bunăvoință, bunătate și rugăciune, în loc să cauți răzbunare.
Semnificația esențială:
• Acțiune, nu emoție: Această iubire este o alegere a voinței, nu un sentiment plăcut și cald. Nu trebuie să-ți placă de un adversar pentru a-l respecta.
• Fără represalii: Renunți la dreptul de a te răzbuna sau de a le dori răul.
• Fapte bune: Îi ajuți când au nevoie și le dorești binele când te blestemă.
• Rugăciune: Te rogi pentru binele și schimbarea celor care ți-au făcut rău.
Domnul Christos pune acest lucru în contrast cu ideea comună de a-ți urî adversarii, afirmând că a-i iubi doar pe prieteni nu dovedește un caracter deosebit.
Ce nu înseamnă:
• Nu înseamnă să fii un „preș de șters pe picioare”: nu înseamnă să accepți abuzurile, să ignori nedreptatea sau să permiți oamenilor să profite de tine.
• Stabilirea unor limite: Poți stabili limite sigure și înțelepte, refuzând în același timp să păstrezi amărăciune sau ură în inimă.
• Nu înseamnă aprobare: A iubi pe cineva nu înseamnă că ești de acord cu acțiunile sau alegerile sale greșite.

Biserica Zlǎtari, Calea Victoriei, București, Sf. Ciprian și Iustina.
• Ciprian a fost un filosof și vrăjitor din Antiohia Siriei, foarte încercat în tainele magiei negre și slujitor al idolilor.
• Iustina a fost o fecioară creștină cu o viață curată, care a respins cererea în căsătorie a unui tânăr păgân pe nume Aglaid.
• Aglaid a apelat la Ciprian pentru a o seduce pe Iustina prin farmece, însă vrăjile au eșuat de fiecare dată în fața credinței și a Crucii purtate de Iustina.
Conversia și Martiriul :
• Văzând puterea crucii și neputința magiei sale, Ciprian și-a ars cărțile de vrăjitorie, și s-a botezat.
• Iustina s-a călugărit.
• În timpul persecuțiilor împăratului Dioclețian, cei doi au fost prinși, torturați în Damasc și în cele din urmă decapitati la Nicomidia pe 2 octombrie 304.

Zlătari Church, Calea Victoriei, Bucharest – Saints Cyprian and Justina.
• Cyprian was a philosopher and sorcerer from Antioch in Syria, deeply versed in the mysteries of black magic and a servant of idols.
• Justina was a Christian virgin of pure life who rejected the marriage proposal of a young pagan named Aglaidas.
• Aglaidas turned to Cyprian to seduce Justina through sorcery, but the spells failed every time in the face of Justina's faith and the sign of the Cross she bore.
Conversion and Martyrdom:
• Witnessing the power of the Cross and the futility of his magic, Cyprian burned his books of sorcery and was baptized.
• Justina became a nun.
• During the persecutions under Emperor Diocletian, the two were captured, tortured in Damascus, and ultimately beheaded in Nicomedia on October 2, 304.

1st of October
The Protection of the Virgin Mary.
- “Who is my mother and who are my brothers?
- Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother”(Matthew 12:46).
Jesus was not saying that His love for His Mother and brothers was any less than it ever been. What He was saying was that His ‘new’ family, made up of those who are obedient to His Father in heaven, have a more valid call on His time and ministry.
The challenge for us is - do we see His ‘true’ family as our ‘true’ family?

1 octombrie
Acoperământul Maicii Domnului.
– „Cine este mama Mea și cine sunt frații Mei?
– Iată, mama Mea și frații Mei. Căci oricine face voia Tatălui Meu din ceruri, acela Îmi este frate și soră și mamă” (Matei 12:46).
Iisus nu spunea că dragostea Sa pentru Mama și frații Săi ar fi fost mai mică decât fusese vreodată. Ceea ce spunea El era că „noua” Sa familie – alcătuită din cei care ascultă de Tatăl Său din ceruri – are un drept mai mare asupra timpului și lucrării Sale.
Provocarea pentru noi este următoarea: privim noi familia Sa „adevărată” ca fiind propria noastră familie „adevărată”?

Far away from home…
The prophet Baruch ( A Book in the Bible).
Baruch ben Neriah was the loyal scribe, secretary, and trusted friend of the biblical prophet Jeremiah during the 7th and 6th centuries BCE.
The Book of Baruch recalls the Babilonian conquest of Jerusalem in the 6th century B.C.
No matters where they are, even in foreign lands, God’s people can live a faithful life and find hope in God’s promises.

28 septembrie.
Departe de casa pãrinteascã…
Profetul Baruh (o carte în Biblie).
Baruh ben Neria a fost scribul devotat, secretarul și prietenul de încredere al profetului biblic Ieremia, în secolele al VII-lea și al VI-lea î.Hr.
Cartea lui Baruh relatează cucerirea Ierusalimului de către babilonieni în secolul al VI-lea î.Hr.
Indiferent unde s-ar afla, chiar și în țări străine, poporul lui Dumnezeu poate trăi o viață plină de credință și poate găsi speranță în promisiunile lui Dumnezeu.

După ce l-ai prins, dǎ-i drumul delicat în apă și pǎstreazǎ în memorie strǎlucirea lui.

Once you have caught it, gently release it back into the water and keep its shimmer in your memory.

The call of the ancestors…
The Romanian Bell.
I was working as a doctor in QEII Hospital in Brisbane in 2000 when I saw the story in the news paper: The "Romanian Bell" in Brisbane.
A historic, greenish metal bell at St Augustine's Anglican Church in the suburb of Hamilton, Brisbane, which was legendarily claimed to date back to 320 AD when hung by Emperor Constantin in a church in Dacia.
World War I Recovery: Allied sailors retrieved the half-metre-tall, icon-etched bell from a ruined site or battleground in Turkey during World War I.
Memorial Gift: Captain and Mrs. W. Campbell Thomson donated the artifact to St Augustine's Anglican Church Hamilton to serve as a war memorial.
The 1978 Theft: The ancient bell disappeared from the church grounds in 1978, sparking a decades-long local mystery.
Recovery: Federal and local authorities recovered the bell in February 2000 following a joint operation between US Customs and Brisbane police.

Clopotul Românesc : Chemarea Strǎbunilor …
Lucram ca medic la spitalul QEII Hospital în Brisbane în anul 2000, când am văzut știrea în ziar: „Clopotul Românesc” din Brisbane.
Un clopot istoric din metal cu patină verzuie, aflat la Biserica Anglicană St. Augustine din cartierul Hamilton, Brisbane; conform legendei, acesta datá din anul 320 d.Hr., fiind instalat inițial de împăratul Constantin într-o biserică din Dacia.
Recuperarea din Primul Război Mondial: Marinari ai Aliaților au recuperat clopotul – înalt de jumătate de metru și decorat cu o icoană gravată – dintr-o zonă în ruină sau de pe un câmp de luptă din Turcia, în timpul Primului Război Mondial.
Un dar comemorativ: Căpitanul W. Campbell Thomson și soția sa au donat artefactul Bisericii Anglicane St. Augustine Hamilton pentru a servi drept monument comemorativ de război.
Furtul din 1978: Vechiul clopot a dispărut din incinta bisericii în 1978, dând naștere unui mister local care a persistat timp de decenii.
Recuperarea: Autoritățile federale și locale au recuperat clopotul în februarie 2000, în urma unei operațiuni comune desfășurate de Serviciul Vamal al SUA și poliția din Brisbane.

14 Septembrie.
Sfînta Cruce a Domnului Hristos.

Fiind muncitor la strung la fabrica ‘Bolts and Nuts’ (Şuruburi și Piulițe), 111 Jane St., West End în Brisbane în 1989, am făcut Sf. Cruce a Domnului Hristos, cruce care ne-a purtat în toate locurile unde am slujit cu chirie, și apoi în biserica ‘Sf. Dimitrie’ din Brisbane.
Aproape 40 de ani!
“Crucea cu şuruburi” mi-a fost ca o ancorǎ în furtună, a fost inima bisericii, Stâlpul de foc din pustie, element biblic din Exod 13:5, prin care Dumnezeu călăuzea și protejá poporul ales noaptea, în drumul spre Țara Făgăduinței.

Lupta spirituală: În viața creștină, „a-și lua crucea” înseamnă lupta zilnică împotriva păcatului, a egoismului și a patimilor, urmând calea smereniei și a iubirii.

De ziua Sf. Cruci.
“Liturghia tǎcutǎ a viței de vie pe arac : tulpinǎ, ramuri, frunze, ciorchine de strugure. Hristos pe Cruce”(Simone Weil).
“Sf. Cruce cu șuruburi”, după aproape 40 de ani în altar, a ajuns acum în magazie!
Dacă te uiți mai de-aproape o să vezi silueta Domnului Hristos pe ea după 40 de ani!
Ecouri ‘89 la Brisbane:
- Comunistule, securistule!
- Criminalule!
- Jos Ceaușescu, jos Teoctist!
- Noi nu înregistrăm bisericǎ sub patriarhie!
- O să chemăm preot din Germania.

Apostolul duminicii : Ziua Domnului.
“Lucrul fiecăruia se va face cunoscut; îl va vǎdí Ziua Domnului și va lǎmurí ce fel este lucrul fiecăruia” (1 Corinteni 3:13).

Duminică, 9 august.
Apostolul 1 Corinteni 4:9. Circumstanțele existenței apostolice.
Sfântul Pavel contrastează ironic propriile sale suferințe cu iluzia corintenilor că au depășit suferința și au atins deja starea gloriei. Limbajul său amintește de cel al Fericirilor și al Nenorocirii (Matei 5:3), care afirmă o viitoare inversare a condițiilor prezente.
Ei se văd „deja” plini, bogați, conducători, înțelepți, puternici și onorați. Au pierdut din vedere faptul că inversarea este prevăzută pentru viitor.

Duminică 16 August.
Apostolul zilei: “Să nu legi gura boului care treieră”! ( 1 Corinteni 9:9)

Sunday, August 2.
The Holy Cross, after almost 40 years in the altar, it is now to the storeroom!
“The vines’ silent liturgy: stem, branch, stalk, leaf. Christ on the Cross” (Simone Weil).
Sunday’s reading: The Day of the Lord.
“Each one’s work will be made known; the Day of the Lord will reveal it, will reveal what kind of work each one’s work is” (1 Corinthians 3:13).

Sunday August 9.
Reading from 1 Corinthians 4:9. The circumstances of Apostolic Existence.
St. Paul ironically contrasts his own sufferings with the Corinthians' illusion that they have passed beyond the folly of the passion and have already reached the condition of glory. His language echoes that of the beatitudes and woes (Matthew 5:3) which assert a future of reversal of present conditions.
They see themselves as "already" filled, rich, ruling, as wise, strong and honoured. They have lost sight of the fact that the reversal is predicted for the future.
