The Tailrace Church Faith becoming real in everyday life.

You’re welcome here.

At it's core, Tailrace Community is a bunch of people like we read about in Acts 2 who have a faith that is vibrant and healthy, with hearts that want to love of their community. Tailrace Community is a group of people who enjoy being with each other and who put their faith into action in a multitude of ways so that people will know that they matter to them and that hype matter to God.

What’s the hallmark of a good church?

Not how much we enjoy it.
Not how much we know.
Not even how impressive things are.

Jesus gave us something much more grounded:

That we would be known as his followers by our love for one another.

That’s been one of the teachings at the heart of Tailrace Church for many years.

And it’s still what we want to be known for.

We want to become more like Jesus — together.

To be a community where faith becomes real in patience, generosity, forgiveness, welcome and everyday love.

If that sounds like a community worth belonging to, we think so too.

We’re listening for what’s next.

As we look towards the next season of Tailrace, we want to make space to pray, listen and discern together.

Where is God already at work among us?
What are we grateful for?
What are we being invited to notice?
And what might our next faithful step be?

We’ll make plans. But we want to hold them openly — attentive to Jesus and willing for our ideas to be shaped, changed or even set aside as we listen.

So over the coming weeks, would you pray with us?

For Tailrace. For our community. And for the courage to notice where God is at work and join Him there.

Leadership matters.

And we’re pretty grateful for the people who’ve shaped ours.

For those who went before us. And for those faithfully and skilfully leading us still.

Those who gave someone a chance before they were quite ready.
Those who shared responsibility instead of holding onto it.
Those who encouraged, challenged, coached — or just said, “give it a go.”

And especially those raising up leaders who might do things differently (and hopefully better) than we have.

We want to be a church where leadership can grow all over the place. Not just with a few people up the front.

Jesus had a habit of trusting ordinary people with meaningful things.

May we see more.

More leaders raised.
More kingdom expressions launched.
More faith communities planted.

More leaders, more like Jesus.

There’s something pretty special about celebrating baptism together.

Soon, we get to stand alongside people from our community as they take this step of faith — and remind ourselves again of the new life Jesus invites all of us into.

Whether Tailrace is your church, you’re exploring faith, or you simply want to come and celebrate with someone you know, you’re very welcome.

Thank you to all our friends, inside and outside the church, who help create wonderful things with us.

We’re grateful for what’s already been created — and inspired to imagine what might come next.

And if you’re curious about faith, or looking for a church to call home, you’re welcome to come and extend goodness with us.

There’s something pretty special about seeing young adults finding community, growing in faith and doing life together.

We’re so grateful for the young adults who are part of Tailrace Church — and for the leaders who walk alongside them, creating space for friendship, honest questions and faith to grow.

Together, we’re seeing people serve, build meaningful friendships and discover what following Jesus can look like in everyday life.

And if you’re a young adult who isn’t part of a church, but you’ve found yourself curious about faith, Jesus, or what Christians actually mean when we talk about good news — there’s room for you to explore that here too.

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t even need to know what you believe.

Come along one Sunday, meet some people your age, and explore faith in good company.

You’d be very welcome.

As a church, we’re committed to demonstrating the Kingdom of God in word and deed.

We believe the good news of Jesus is something we both embody and share.

It looks like showing up.
Serving others.
Seeking justice.
Standing with people who are vulnerable.
Offering compassion.
And, in the midst of ordinary relationships, sharing the hope we have found in Jesus.

Presence and proclamation belong together.

And what a joy it is to be part of what God is doing in the everyday — in lives, relationships and our community.

Hallelujah! God is good!

Have you ever felt like you weren’t very good at praying?

We have.

On Sunday we started a series on the Lord’s Prayer. Come and learn with us.

This is a refreshingly simple book on prayer. Worth a read.

When you feel like you have nothing left, just pray what you have.

God is kind

God is good

The spiritual life

Martin Buber wrote one of the most important books of the 20th century: I and Thou.

His basic premise is that there are two ways to relate to people.
I–It and I–Thou.

When we see someone merely as an object, they become an It.

But when we truly see them as a person, we encounter a Thou.

In that moment, something sacred happens.

We catch a glimpse of the image of God reflected in another human being.

When I sit with someone like Anne and those kind, penetrating eyes ask,

“How are you?” I’m reminded that there is something profoundly sacred about ordinary human encounters.

C.S. Lewis captured it beautifully:

“Next to the Blessed Sacrament itself, your neighbour is the holiest object presented to your senses.”

Perhaps that’s why Jesus spent so much of his time simply seeing people.
And perhaps that’s where the spiritual life begins for us too.
