THIS WEEK AT HOLY SPIRIT PARISH

There’s plenty happening across our parish and school community this week.

In this week’s Parish Newsletter, you’ll find information about:

• URGENT: Parish House tablecloths needed – If you have any of the large black and red tablecloths from the Parish House linen cupboard at home or in your car, please return them to the Parish House as soon as possible. They are needed for the Fete in just three weeks.

• Daylight Saving begins – Clocks go forward one hour at 3am next Sunday, 4 October.

• Saturday 6pm Masses return to the Church – The first Saturday 6pm Mass in the Church will be on 17 October. Please note there will be no 6pm Saturday Mass on Fete Day, Saturday 10 October.

• Fete Cake Stall – Contributions are needed! Plates with ingredient labels and instructions are available in the Church and Chapel. Take a plate or two home and bake something for Fete Day. Cardboard boxes are also available for cupcakes.

• Fete Raffle – A reminder to return your raffle tickets. More books are available if you’d like to purchase additional tickets. Great prizes are on offer at just $3 per ticket.

• Parish Newsletter – “The Word” – Available on the Parish website, with some hard copies also available in the Church and Chapel.

ANNOINTING MASS | WEDNESDAY 23 SEPTEMBER
Our parish community is warmly invited to join us for an Anointing Mass on Wednesday 23 September at 11.00am in the Church.

As it is during the school holidays, there will be plenty of parking available on-site, so we hope you can join us.

Following Mass, we will come together for some refreshments and fellowship. If you are planning to attend, please add your name to the sign-up sheet in the Church so we can cater for everyone.

We look forward to sharing this special time together as a parish community.

🎪BE PART OF THE Holy Spirit Community Fete

Our Fete is about more than fundraising — it’s a day for our Holy Spirit families and parish community to come together, have fun and continue a tradition started by our parish community back in 1982.

We’d love more of our parishioners to get involved this year. You don’t need to give up your whole day — even an hour or two makes a difference.

There are plenty of ways to help:
• Organise books or toys
• Assist Jacek on Trash & Treasure during Fete week
• Help Ruth at the Information Booth
• Keep an eye on the Silent Auction (seated)
• Sell ride tickets (seated)
• Jams or Devonshire Tea
• Have some fun with face painting
• Help with setup, pack-up or wherever you’re needed

There really is a place for everyone.

Don Schoder and Denis Gridley help with the crossing and announcements, Jenny and Pete Philip run the stage and sound, Mary Ryan and Tina Toomey are heading up the BBQ. Maureen & Terry Taffe, Michael O’Leary and Dale Sabire are Fete floaters.

It’s wonderful to see different generations getting involved. Cath & Adam Stone, The Collins family — Yvette, Marty, Emily and Meg - and a fete favourite the Italian stall run by the Volombello family.

And don’t think you’re too old! Ron Smith, who turned 98 yesterday, is getting into the Fete fun too.

We know we haven’t mentioned everyone — we have so many amazing helpers, and we are incredibly grateful for every person who gets involved.

And if volunteering isn’t for you, that’s okay too. Buy or sell some raffle tickets, bring the family down, have a ride, grab some food and simply be part of the day.

You might even see Father Arsenio volunteering for the Dunk Tank!

ALL AGES. ALL SKILL LEVELS. EVERYONE WELCOME!

❤️ Maroondah Winter Shelter – Thank You ❤️

A few photos from Winter Shelter and our Community Meals.

This week we also had the opportunity to celebrate our wonderful Maroondah Winter Shelter volunteers. A huge thank you to every one of you for your time, kindness and generosity. 🙏

Our homelessness and Community Meals programs are so important to our community, and they are only a success because of the incredible people who give their time and support.

Thank you to everyone who cooked, donated, volunteered, helped set up, provided services and simply showed up to help. Every contribution makes a difference. ❤️

The installation of our new dishwasher has also made cleaning up after meals so much easier, which is a wonderful practical improvement for our volunteers.

🍞 A massive thank you to Burnt Bridge Bakehouse who Kindy donated bread, rolls, pies and sausage rolls every Friday - please be sure to support them! 

🏉 A special thank you to North Ringwood Junior Football Club for their generous donation of bags for our guests.

And thank you to Tony from Footlab+ for generously giving his time to care for our guests and help those with foot problems. 👣❤️

We are so grateful for the many kind people who continue to support our guests throughout the Winter Shelter season.

Winter Shelter may now be finished for the year, but the care and kindness of our community continues. Thank you all. ❤️

This Sunday 9th August we celebrate Holy Spirit School's 50th Anniversary with a mass at 9.00 am celebrated by Bishop Thinh.

Special guests include Matt Gregg the Federal Member of Parliament and Nicole Werner MP the local member for Warrandyte along with past Parish Priests and staff members attending.

A morning tea will follow where you can catch up with previous members of the school and Parish. We hope to see as many Parishioners and school families as possible.
