We know that many were concerned to see the emergency vehicles outside the church yesterday afternoon. There was a medical emergency in our belltower. While thankfully not a safety issue, unfortunately it did bring sad news. In spite of the wonderful work of many emergency services personnel, Robert “Rusty“ Walters, a giant among bell ringers, passed away.  Deep thanks go to the ambulance and police officers who worked tirelessly in the attempt to save him.  Rusty was an institution in the bell ringing community, and will be very sadly missed. Our bells will be silent this Sunday. But they will be ringing again soon, as Rusty would want it.
