💛 TOGETHER WE LIFTED UP COLOMBIA — AND YOU CAN STILL BE PART OF IT! 💛🇨🇴

Last Sunday at West Preston Baptist Church, our church family came together to support people affected by the devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia on 10 August.

What happened was truly beautiful. ❤️

People baked and donated delicious homemade food. Others proudly wore Colombian T-shirts and colours. Friends shared the appeal with others and helped spread the word. And after the service, so many people stayed, enjoyed morning tea, shared fellowship and gave generously.

This appeal is about compassion, generosity and showing love to people in need.

✈️ Where will your donation go?

100% of the funds raised through our appeal will be donated to Patrulla Aérea Civil del Pacífico (PAC Pacífico), a Colombian humanitarian organisation with a long history of reaching vulnerable and isolated communities.

Their volunteer aviation network supports humanitarian and medical missions, including:

✈️ Transporting food, water, medicines and essential supplies
🏥 Supporting medical evacuations and health missions
❤️ Reaching vulnerable and isolated communities
🤝 Working with local organisations during emergencies
🛩️ Providing transport and logistical support when roads and other access routes are difficult or unavailable

💛 THERE IS STILL TIME TO HELP

We are closing our Colombian Appeal on Monday, 31 August.

If you have been thinking about giving, you still have an opportunity to join us.

You can donate directly to:

West Preston Baptist Church
BSB: 704922
Account: 100013301
Reference: Colombia Relief

Whether you give $10, $50 or whatever you are able to contribute, every donation makes a difference.

Please share this post with your friends, family and anyone who may want to help.

From our church in Melbourne to the communities of Colombia — we may be thousands of kilometres apart, but love, compassion and generosity can reach across any distance. 🌎❤️

Thank you to everyone who has already supported this appeal.

🇨🇴 Together, we lifted up Colombia. And together, we can continue to make a difference.

🐑 God is our Good Shepherd

This week in our "Know That I Am Lord" series through Ezekiel, Paul took us to Ezekiel 34 — a beautiful picture of God as the Good Shepherd who looks after his people.

He also threw out a challenge: how are WE called to shepherd others? Seeking out the lost, welcoming home the strays, binding up the injured, strengthening the weak?

Which one's God nudging you towards this week?

Want to chat about it or find out more about us? Reach out anytime — www.wpbc.org.au or [email protected]

Together We Lift Up Colombia

This Sunday, we have a special opportunity to stand with the people of Colombia.

Following the devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia on 10 August, many communities are facing loss, displacement and urgent humanitarian needs. The earthquake has particularly affected areas across western Colombia, including Cali and the Chocó region.

As a church family, we want to respond with compassion and practical help.
☕ *Stay for morning tea and help us make a difference*

This Sunday, after the service, we invite you to stay for morning tea and enjoy some delicious homemade desserts prepared especially for this fundraising activity.
There is no set price for the desserts.
Instead, we invite you to simply give whatever you feel is in your heart. Every contribution, large or small, can help bring practical support to people who are going through an incredibly difficult time.

✈️ *Where will the money go?*
100% of the funds raised will be donated to the Patrulla Aérea Civil del Pacífico (PAC Pacífico), a Colombian humanitarian organisation based in the Cali/Palmira region.

The Patrulla Aérea Civil del Pacífico has a long history of using general aviation to serve communities that are difficult to reach. Their volunteer aviation network supports humanitarian and medical missions, including:
• ✈️ Transporting food, water, medicines and essential supplies
• 🏥 Supporting medical evacuations and health missions
• ❤️ Reaching vulnerable and isolated communities
• 🤝 Working alongside institutions and local organisations during emergencies
• 🛩️ Providing transport and logistical support when roads and other access routes are difficult or unavailable
Their work has included humanitarian assistance to communities affected by previous disasters and emergencies across Colombia. (Pac Pacifico)
This means that our donation can help turn our generosity into practical assistance on the ground.

💛 *How can you donate?*
If you would like to contribute, you can do so in either of these ways:
1. Come along on Sunday and make a donation during morning tea.
Enjoy a dessert, stay for fellowship, and give whatever amount you feel able to give.

2. Make a direct transfer to the church account:

Account: 100013301

The church will then collect all donations received for this appeal and transfer the funds to the Patrulla Aérea Civil del Pacífico in Colombia for their humanitarian work.

❤️ Together, we can lift up Colombia
For many of us, Colombia is more than a country on a map. It is where friends and loved ones live.
And even though we are thousands of kilometres away, we can still show love, solidarity and compassion.

So please stay after the service this Sunday, enjoy some delicious desserts, spend time together as a church family, and consider giving whatever is on your heart.

Together, we can lift up Colombia.
Together, we can bring hope.
Together, we can make a difference.
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

New series alert! This week Paul kicked off **Ezekiel: Know that I am the Lord**, taking us through Ezekiel 1:1–2:8 — the prophet's wild vision by the river Kebar. We talked about what it means to know God's presence and holiness even when everything feels unfamiliar, and how that connects with the sense of displacement so many of us feel today, especially as the religious landscape here in Australia keeps shifting.

Want the full message? Catch the whole service over on our YouTube channel.

We'd love to have you join us in person, or just get in touch — reach out anytime at www.wpbc.org.au or [email protected].

Happy Pentecost Sunday! 🔥
This week in our 50 Days of God Conversations series, Pastor Paul set the stage for a church-wide conversation around one big question: what does the Holy Spirit mean to us today?
Rather than a traditional message, we opened it up together — breaking into small groups to share and reflect. The conversations were wonderful, with people sharing how they experience the Spirit as a channel of communication with God, a vessel of hope, and a source of peace and comfort in their everyday lives.
If you've been sitting with that question yourself, we'd love for you to join the conversation!

Upper Room Conversations: Between Two Worlds – Week 2 👋

This week's message is from John 15:18–16:11, and it lands on something we can all hold onto:

"You testify. The Spirit convicts."

We sometimes put so much pressure on ourselves to say the perfect thing, to have all the answers, to somehow convince people. But Jesus is clear – our part is to share what we know. The Holy Spirit does the rest.
