“We tried the drugs and were searching for something better. Some friends from this church kept speaking the truth to us but we ignored them and continued trying everything else. I’m so glad we eventually listened to them and got born again! It’s so good to live with God in my life.”

This is Bev, with her grandson Tom and her husband Greg. She was visiting from our Port Macquarie Revival Fellowship on Sunday and it was great to hear her story.

Allan: I knew it was more than a coincidence.

I was brought up in a mainline church and attended a religious school. I believed in God but had teachers who taught evolution and explained away miracles of the bible.
When I reached my teens I followed my peers. I stopped going to church, started drinking and smoking and became a social drug user. By 1982 I was living with my girlfriend (Sharon) in Cairns, thinking life was nice and “cruisey”. Whilst spending time apart due to work, Sharon and I both had the true gospel told to us by completely different people, thousands of kilometres apart.
We were told about water baptism and receiving the Holy Spirit. When I realised that we had both heard the same message, I knew that it was more than just a coincidence.
I moved to the Gold Coast where I was baptised. When I called on the Lord from my heart I received the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. From that moment on I had no desire to drink alcohol or smoke drugs. I felt I was shedding a burden I never knew I had. Sharon and I were married and together live a life of complete contentment.

We are both saddened and understandably content that our dear Sid is asleep in Christ. Always a kind words or funny quip, Sid brightened our world with colourful tues, humour and that amazing sparkle in his eyes. Sid ran more innings than many, drank more cups of tea than the Queen and had such a love for his family, friends and his heavenly Father. Sleep well dear brother. All our love & prayers to his beautiful family here and in England.
