The biggest lie parents believe is that it is their job to control their children.
More accurately, it is our job to be connected to our children, so they give us influence in their lives.
The way we keep a position of influence with them, it’s not to control them, but to control ourselves.
By demonstrating self control with our emotions and our words, we equip them to do the same, and they’ll trust us enough to allow us long-term influence in their lives.
