It is better late than never!

On Good Shepherd Sunday, our parish community, together with our schools, joyfully celebrated the installation of Fr Louie as the 10th Parish Priest. He arrived in our parish community in January 2025 after faithfully serving the communities in Gympie and Gayndah as an assistant priest.

The celebration was presided over by Archbishop Shane Mackinlay, who was visiting the parish for the first time. In his homily, Archbishop Shane encouraged Fr Louie to be a shepherd who serves God’s people with joy. He also made reference to the first anniversary of the death of Pope Francis, inviting Fr Louie to reflect on his message—especially in his Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, which calls for a “new chapter of evangelisation” marked by the joy that comes from a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.

We congratulate Fr Louie as he continues his journey with our parish community in the years ahead. May God continue to bless him with joy in his ministry, and may that joy be shared with all the people he is called to serve.
