Before entering St Charles Seminary, Fr Jason Yeap was a civil engineer with plans for a very different future.

What began with one simple question from a parishioner eventually became a journey of discernment, surrender, and discovering where God was calling him.

Now ordained a priest and serving at St Mary's Cathedral, Perth WA , Fr Jason’s story is a reminder that vocation often begins quietly — through prayer, questions, conversations, and openness to where God may lead.

From 10–12 July, the Perth Vocations Office invites men aged 18+ to submit an Expression of Interest for a weekend discernment retreat at St Charles Seminary

Over three days, participants will experience prayer, fraternity, honest conversations, and a glimpse into seminary life — alongside priests and seminarians who have each wrestled with the same questions you may be carrying today.

💜 Fr Brennan Sia, Parish priest of Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Gosnells gave a reflection on the 'Life of a Priest' at the Perth Vocations event on Sunday 24th May.

Attendees heard how the life of a priest is filled with joys and challenges yet the abiding presence of God is always near.

After a prayerful Holy hour held at St Benedict's church in Applecross the event drew over a dozen young men discerning the priesthood.

The Perth Vocations Office was proud to promote vocations at annual Sacred Heart Catholic College on Wednesday 20th May.

💜 Over 1100 students and their parents attended, to discover a potential career - many of whom interacted with us and heard about what the Church is doing for them in their journey of seeking what God may be asking from them.

Supporting the stall was Vocations Committee member Mrs Jane Borg, Principal of Acts2Come College in Osbourne Park.

✝ Being a priest may not seem like every man's career choice, yet Jesus continues to call to "come and follow him" in a radical selfless way.

🙏 Please pray for Vocations in the Archdiocese of Perth.

💬 When Fr Brennan Sia first felt called to the priesthood, he was still in high school.

But life took him in another direction first. ⚗ He studied chemistry, became a qualified pharmacist, and spent several years working in the pharmaceutical industry — helping people, building a career, and living what many would consider a successful life.

Yet through it all, there remained a quiet sense that 💜 God was calling him to something more.

🙏 In 2006, Fr Brennan made the courageous decision to leave his career behind and enter the seminary. Today, after 10 years of priesthood, he’ll be sharing more of that journey — the joys, the challenges, and how God slowly led him to where he is now.

If you’ve ever wondered about the priesthood, or felt that quiet tug in your own life, this afternoon is for you.

🌿 **Caring for Country, Caring for Our Common Home**
17 May – 3 June

As we journey through Laudato Si’ Week and National Reconciliation Week, we are invited into a shared call: to listen deeply, reflect humbly, and respond with love and action.

These weeks remind us that care for creation and reconciliation with First Nations peoples are deeply connected. As Catholics, we are called not only to pray, but to build relationships, seek justice, and care for our common home.

As Pope Francis reminds us in *Laudato Si’*:

> “We live in a common home which God has entrusted to us.”

And Pope Leo XIV writes:

> “Love is prophetic: it works miracles and knows no limits.”

May this be a time to listen with the ear of the heart and to respond with compassion, courage, and hope. 🙏
