Earthly friends may prove treacherous and changeable, but Christ is a friend
who never fails. When we are in greatest need, His help is nearest. The
conditions of life separate friends; the wide seas roll between us and them, and
though still friends in heart, they may not be able to demonstrate it by doing for
us that which it would be their greatest joy to do. But no circumstances, no distance, can separate us from the heavenly Comforter. In Heavenly Places, pg. 182

Many professed Adventists today speak continually about the first, second, and third angels of Revelation 14, yet when the subject of the fourth angel of Revelation 18 is brought before them, there is often silence, discomfort, resistance, or even open rejection. The tragic reality is that the very message Heaven sent to lighten the earth with glory in 1888 is still largely misunderstood, neglected, or opposed. Many are willing to discuss prophecy charts, beasts, kingdoms, and current events, yet become unsettled when confronted with the practical fruits and reforms connected with the Loud Cry message itself.

The fourth angel is not merely another sermon topic. It is a message of power, righteousness by faith, heart transformation, true godliness, separation from worldliness, and preparation for the close of probation. It calls for revival, reformation, humility, victory over sin through Christ, simplicity, modesty, self denial, and the full surrender of the life to God. It exposes lukewarm Laodicean religion that outwardly professes truth while lacking the Spirit and power of Christ. This is why so many resist it. Men often prefer a religion that allows profession without deep sacrifice.

The servant of the Lord plainly stated that the Loud Cry actually began in connection with the 1888 message presented by Jones and Waggoner:

“The time of test is just upon us, for the loud cry of the third angel has already begun in the revelation of the righteousness of Christ, the sin pardoning Redeemer. This is the beginning of the light of the angel whose glory shall fill the whole earth.”
Selected Messages, Book 1, p. 363.

Yet what happened? Instead of receiving Heaven’s light with humility, many resisted it because it rebuked pride, legalism, coldness, and self sufficiency. Ellen White wrote with deep sorrow:

“The angel that unites in the proclamation of the third angel’s message is to lighten the whole earth with his glory… Some refused the light from heaven. They rejected the message the Lord sent to them.”
Testimonies to Ministers, pp. 91–97.

The fourth angel message was never meant to be shallow. It carries within it the depth of the sanctuary message, the cleansing work of Christ in the Most Holy Place, the original teachings on the 144,000, genuine health reform, dress reform, practical godliness, and the restoration of primitive Adventism. It is connected with the final warning regarding the image of the beast and the closing movements involving the king of the north. The pioneers understood prophecy as a connected chain of truth, not isolated doctrines detached from practical holiness.

Today many profess to believe the sanctuary doctrine while rejecting the life of self denial and holiness that flows from it. Others speak of the sealing and the 144,000 while rejecting the deep heart preparation and purification connected with those truths. Still others discuss Daniel and Revelation academically while resisting the straight testimony and reforms that Heaven attached to these messages.

The reality is that the fourth angel does not merely increase information. It deepens the experience of the third angel’s message.

“The work will grow deeper and become more earnest to the very close of time.”
2SM 114.

Many today accuse those who uphold the old paths of being “extreme,” “historic only,” or “fanatical,” yet the Spirit of Prophecy explicitly instructed God’s people not to discard the foundational truths established by the pioneers under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

“Repeat the words of the pioneers in our work, who knew what it cost to search for the truth as for hidden treasure, and who labored to lay the foundation of our work… Let that which these men have written in the past be reproduced.” CWE 28

That statement alone condemns much of modern Adventism’s attitude toward the old landmarks and historic teachings. Instead of repeating the words of the pioneers, many today dismiss them. Instead of studying the old paths, many seek acceptance from the world, evangelicalism, academia, and modern culture.

The fourth angel calls God’s people back to primitive Adventism. Back to reverence. Back to modesty. Back to health reform. Back to the sanctuary. Back to the original teachings on the 144,000. Back to earnest prayer. Back to separation from worldly entertainment and pride. Back to the faith once delivered unto the saints.

The issue is not whether people intellectually acknowledge Revelation 18. The issue is whether they are willing to receive the light and experience connected with it.

History shows what happened in 1888. The solemn reality is that many are repeating the same rejection today. The fourth angel is here already, but much of Adventism scarcely speaks about it because the message demands reformation, sacrifice, and complete surrender to Christ.

“The prejudice and unbelief that existed at Minneapolis are not dead by any means.”
Selected Messages, Book 1, p. 234.

“In 1888 at the General Conference held in Minneapolis, Minn. The angel of Revelation 18:1 came down to do his work, and was ridiculed criticized and rejected. And when the message he brings again swells into a loud cry, it will again be ridiculed, spoken against and rejected by the majority." Ellen G. White , Taking up a Reproach.

There is to be in the churches a wonderful manifestation of the power of God, but it will not move upon those who have not humbled themselves before the Lord, and opened the door of their hearts by confession and repentance. In the manifestation of that power which lightens the earth with the glory of God they will see something which will arouse their fears, and they will brace themselves to resist it. Because the Lord does not work accordingly to their expectations and ideas they will oppose the work. 'Why ,' they say, ' should we not know the Spirit of God when we have been in the work for so many years?' Ellen G. White, Bible Training School , May, 1907.

“A storm is coming, relentless in its fury. Are we prepared to meet it? We need not say, The perils of the last days will soon come upon us. Already they have come. The most important work is before us. We are to prepare for the crisis by emptying the heart of self, and making room for Christ.” Education, p. 179

The foolish virgins made no provision for their lamps; and when aroused from their slumbers, they found that their lights were going out. They now see the consequences of their carelessness, and plead with their companions for a supply of oil: "Give us of your oil," they say; "for our lamps are going out." But the waiting five, with their freshly trimmed lamps, have emptied their vessels. They have no oil to spare, and they answer: "Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you. But go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves." But while they went to buy, the procession moved on, and left them behind. The bridal train entered the house, and the door was shut. When the foolish virgins reached the banqueting hall, they received an unexpected denial. They were left outside in the blackness of the night.” –The Review and Herald, October 31, 1899

You were designed to be vegan

From the very beginning in Eden, humanity was given a plant-based diet by God Himself.

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed… and every tree… to you it shall be for meat.” — Genesis 1:29

After creation, God looked upon everything He had made and declared it “very good” (Genesis 1:31). There was no death, slaughter or bloodshed in Eden. God’s original design for mankind was vegan.

Only after the flood, when the earth had been devastated, was permission temporarily given to eat certain clean animals (Genesis 9:3–4). But this was never presented as the original ideal. Even then, God still maintained a distinction between clean and unclean animals.

The Bible strongly condemns the eating of unclean creatures:

“They that sanctify themselves… eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the Lord.” — Isaiah 66:17

During the 40 years in the wilderness, the children of Israel were sustained largely on manna from heaven — a simple food provided directly by God. But many became dissatisfied and lusted after flesh foods.

“Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.” — 1 Corinthians 10:6

“But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.” — 1 Corinthians 10:5

Paul is referring back to Numbers 11, where Israel rejected the simple diet God provided and demanded flesh foods instead. God permitted quail, but judgment followed:

“And while the flesh was yet between their teeth… the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people.” — Numbers 11:33

Paul then warns Christians that these events “were written for our admonition” (1 Corinthians 10:11). The lesson is clear: we are not to lust after the same things they lusted after.

Humans constantly have to process, disguise, preserve and chemically alter meat to safely consume it. Carnivores in the wild do not need refrigeration, marinades, thermometers, expiry dates, antibiotics or industrial food safety systems to survive eating flesh. They can tear into a carcass raw without concern.

Humans usually become sick from raw meat unless it is heavily controlled and prepared. We refrigerate it because it rapidly putrefies. We spice it because the natural smell and taste of blood and decay are unpleasant to most people. We cook it to destroy bacteria and parasites. We invented curing, salting and smoking because meat rots so quickly.

Our anatomy also differs greatly from true carnivores:
• Flat molars for grinding, not tearing flesh
• Weak jaws compared to predators
• Long intestinal tracts more suited to plant digestion
• Sweating through pores instead of panting
• No natural instinct to chase down and rip apart live animals with our teeth

A hungry child naturally reaches for fruit, not a living rabbit to bite into raw.

Even many meat eaters admit they would gag at warm raw flesh straight from an animal. Yet lions, cats and wolves instinctively desire it exactly as it is.

The Manufacturer designed the human body originally for fruits, grains, nuts, seeds and vegetation. The further society moves into blood, decay, disease and flesh consumption, the further it moves from the Edenic pattern God called “very good.”

Has America Already Spoken Like a Dragon? 🐉🇺🇸

One of the most serious prophecies in the entire Bible is found in Revelation 13. It speaks of a nation that would rise looking “like a lamb” but would eventually “speak as a dragon.”

Historic Protestants and early Adventist believers understood this power to represent the United States of America.

Why?

Because America rose to prominence around the very time prophecy predicted, in a relatively unpopulated land, founded upon two lamb-like principles: civil liberty and religious freedom. It appeared gentle, innocent and freedom-loving.

But prophecy warns something would change.

“And he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.” — Revelation 13:11

A nation “speaks” through its laws and legislation. The prophecy points to a time when America would begin enforcing religious laws and restricting liberty of conscience.

Many people today think the mark of the beast is some kind of microchip, barcode or future technology. But Revelation connects the issue directly to worship and obedience.

The Bible says the final crisis will revolve around worship, God’s commandments, and allegiance to human authority versus divine authority.

Historic Adventists have long believed the “image to the beast” represents a union of church and state — when religious powers influence governments to enforce religious observances.

What many people do not realise is that America already had Sunday laws in the past.

In the late 1800s, Sabbath-keepers in parts of America were fined, imprisoned and persecuted for refusing to honour enforced Sunday observance laws. Ellen White even wrote during that period that the nation was beginning to reveal “the voice of the dragon.”

The question is not whether religious liberty is under pressure — the question is how far society will eventually go.

Will freedom of conscience survive?

Will governments eventually enforce religious morality?

Will the majority demand laws against those who choose to obey God rather than human tradition?

Revelation warns that the final conflict of earth’s history will centre upon worship.

“Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” — Revelation 14:12

This is not merely about politics. It is about loyalty to Christ, obedience to Scripture, and preparation for the closing events of earth’s history.

As society becomes more unstable politically, economically and morally, many are calling for stronger unity between religion and government to “restore order.” Bible prophecy warned this long ago.

The real issue is this:

Will we follow the Word of God no matter the cost?
