Saint Hilda's Anglican Church North Perth

Saint Hilda's Anglican Church North Perth St Hilda's is an Anglican worshipping community of acceptance, enquiry and engagement. We offer two regular services on Sunday at 8am and 9.45am. WELCOME!

We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, widowed. gay, confused, filthy rich, comfortable, or dirt poor. We extend a special welcome to wailing babies and excited toddlers. We welcome you whether you can sing like Pavarotti or just growl quietly to yourself. You’re welcome here if you’re ‘just browsing’, just woken up or just got out of prison. We don’t care if you’r

e more Christian than the Archbishop of Canterbury, or haven’t been to church since Christmas ten years ago. We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome keep-fit mums, football dads, starving artists, tree huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, junk-food eaters. We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you are having problems, are down in the dumps or don’t like ‘organised religion’. (We’re not that keen on it either.) We offer a welcome to those who think the earth is flat, work too hard, don’t work, can’t spell or are here because granny is visiting and wanted to come to church. We welcome those who are inked, pieced, both or neither. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion shoved down their throat as kids or got lost in the city centre and wound up here by mistake. We welcome pilgrims, tourists, seekers, doubters….and YOU! With kind permission of Coventry Cathedral.

Our single 9am Sunday service time will continue for the time being after Father Steve Hilton starts with us.

We are in the National Reconciliation Week which runs till June 3rd. How about reading the Perth Diocese's Reconciliation Action Plan and putting what we can into action? The photo below is from the recent launch of the RAP, with elders Aunties Marie Pryor, Dr Liz Hayden and Uncle Ben Cuiermara Taylor. See the link below for the plan

It's Pentecost Sunday on 24 May! Wear red if you can!

For each of us, for Pentecost Sunday. Inspired by the story that tells us the Spirit does not always come to make us comfortable but to make us into a community, in all its searing difficulty and grace.

WHEN WE BREATHE TOGETHER
A Blessing for Pentecost Day

This is the blessing
we cannot speak
by ourselves.

This is the blessing
we cannot summon
by our own devices,
cannot shape
to our own purposes,
cannot bend
to our own will.

This is the blessing
that comes
when we leave behind
our aloneness,
when we gather
together,
when we turn
toward one another.

This is the blessing
that blazes among us
when we speak
the words
strange to our ears,

when we finally listen
into the chaos,

when we breathe together
at last.
