It was a joyous evening to set apart three full-time missionaries. Elder Howrie, serving in South Africa East London, Sister Winter, serving in Tahiti Papeete, and Sister Armenti, serving in Australia Adelaide.

How are your family dinner-times going? We’d love to hear how you’re applying the principle of this invitation in your family. What’s working well for you?

At the beginning of the year we invited the stake to make the family the centre of the home, and Christ the centre of the family, by having more family dinners. These include:

Family dinner
Family discussion
Family scripture
Family prayer

Family members, young and old, can help in dinner preparation and cleanup, discussions about life or gospel principles that happened during the day, reading from the scriptures together, and praying together. Doing this in the same block of time can make it simpler and more efficient.

President Oaks reminded us that “parents, what children really want for dinner is you.”

We’ve asked the stake council to share some videos of what family dinner-time looks like in their home. We know that it may not be possible to have family dinner-time every night. So the invitation is to have one more per week than you normally do, and adapt that to your family and circumstances.

Earlier this year the church announced changes to the Sunday meetings schedule.
This change involves an exciting and inspired new curriculum for the Young Men & Young Women.

Dianella Stake & Ward Youth Leaders gathered in person, and via zoom for those away travelling or living in Kalgoorlie, Sunday June 28th to discuss these changes, creating unity in understanding ahead of implementation.

We encourage all families to be subscribed to the For the Strength of Youth magazine ASAP for the magazine to be delivered/accessible.

Today, we were grateful to welcome Mr. Frank Paolino, Member for Mount Lawley, to our Dianella Ward Fast & Testimony meeting.

We appreciated the opportunity to share time together, find common ground, and help deepen understanding of our faith, our worship, and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Mr. Paolino kindly commented that “...the meeting was very uplifting.”

Mr. Paolino also shared that service has been part of his life from a young age, beginning with volunteering in his community at just 12 years old. His strong commitment to family, community, and service was evident throughout our time together.

Following the meeting, we toured the Temple grounds with President and Sister Ferris, President Anderson, Brother and Sister Spark from Stake Communications, and Sister Aimi Richardson from the Regional Communication Council.

We are thankful for Mr. Paolino’s visit and for the spirit of respect, friendship, and shared values that was felt throughout the morning.
