MISSION PARTNER SPOTLIGHT: Sunshine Hostel and LEBC
The Sunshine Hostel, run by the Lahu Evangelical Baptist Convention (LEBC), provides Lahu children from remote villages with the opportunity to live at the hostel and receive an education. The Lahu are a group of people who are underprivileged and have not had access to good education. So the children of Lahu families come down from the villages to the Sunshine Hostel in the city.
The Hostel was established by the LEBC as part of their vision to lead the Lahu people to Jesus through their children. GRLC has developed a partnership with them to provide financial contributions, help make the premises more suitable and safe, and fund the House Parents to look after the children. We did not start the hostel - this is the vision of the local people, whom we are privileged to work alongside, learn from, and support in various ways.
Last year, we helped them build a new girls' dormitory. The old one was a 2-storey wooden building where the girls were in danger of falling through the floor - there were actually places in the upstairs room where they weren't allowed to walk! The new one is a beautiful brick building with a bathroom and a new metal roof.
This year, we'd love to help them upgrade the electrical systems in their buildings and get their school bus back to working order!
Please help us reach these goals and continue empowering the LEBC and Sunshine Hostel to bring the love of Jesus to the Lahu people by giving to our May Mission Month. You can find more info on our Mission page:
