This weeks happenings:
Friday evening. Men's shed night. 6:00pm John Peter's shed.
Saturday evening:
We have the pleasure of Naracoorte Baptist coming and sharing in a BBQ tea and Bon- fire 6:30pm . John Peter's shed.
Sunday morning worship service is at Peake at 10:00am. Naracoorte folk will be joining us.
A combined luncheon will follow our service.
There's possibly between 20-30 Naracoorte folk coming. If you're able to supply extra servings of savory and sweet for lunch that will be greatly appreciated .

A message from Amir the guest speaker this Wednesday evening at Navigate Baptist Church.

Last night I returned to my hotel room and began going over my keynote slides for my messages on the Exploring Ezekiel cruise to Norway.

I don’t know what it is with me in recent weeks, but the nearness of the Lord strikes me every time I prepare a new teaching.

Here I am, studying and preparing to teach from a book written some 2,800 years ago by one of my favorite prophets, yet it feels as though I am reading today’s newspaper.

How blessed we are to know the times and the seasons. And even more than that, how blessed we are that God doesn’t expect us to rely on clergy or priests to understand His plan. He has revealed it to us in His Word.

“I am God, and there is no other,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done.”
Isaiah 46:9-10 (NKJV)

This morning I want to ask you, perhaps even beg you: spend more time in the Word.

You will gain two priceless things. First, the peace that surpasses all understanding. Second, a growing burden for our fallen and lost world.

News by itself will make you bitter, angry, anxious, and sleepless. Trust me. I know, because for years I reported it and exposed you to only a small fraction of what was really happening.

As I have reached day 35 of this seven-and-a-half-week journey, one conviction has only grown stronger within me: stepping away from the constant flow of news and devoting myself to teaching God’s Word was the right decision.

I must admit that I am a bit under the weather today, with a cold, sneezing, a cough, and a congested nose. But other than that, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!

The headlines change by the hour.

The Word of God never changes.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”

Does Ephesians 1 teach unconditional election?

No. Ephesians 1 never says God unconditionally chose certain individuals to become believers.

The passage repeatedly says believers are chosen "in Christ." The question is: How does someone get "in Christ"?

According to Scripture:

We become children of God through faith (Gal. 3:26).

After hearing and believing the gospel, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit (Eph. 1:13).

We are chosen in Christ, not chosen to be placed in Christ.

God's eternal plan was to save those who are in Christ. Before the foundation of the world, He determined that everyone who believes the gospel and is united to Christ would be holy, blameless, adopted, redeemed, and ultimately glorified.

Romans 16:7 also demonstrates that people come into Christ at different points in history. Andronicus and Junia were "in Christ" before Paul, showing that individuals are added to Christ over time as they believe.

The New Testament never teaches that unbelievers are predestined to become believers. Rather, it teaches the predestination of believers - those already in Christ - to adoption, conformity to Christ, and future glory.

Salvation is by God's grace through faith. The consistent biblical order is:

Hear the gospel → Believe → Be sealed with the Holy Spirit → Be found in Christ → Share in all that God predetermined for those who are in Christ.

Nothing in Ephesians 1 requires unconditional election. It beautifully describes God's eternal plan for all who are in Christ.
