Welcome to Dharma House Palmwoods, Queensland, Australia

Welcome to Dharma House Palmwoods, Queensland, Australia Dharma House Palmwoods is dedicated to the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism under the guidance of our spiritual teacher Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche.

Welcome to Dharma House Palmwoods. We are a group of students dedicated to the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism under the guidance of our spiritual head and teacher Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche. Our aim is to make authentic Buddhist teachings and meditation practices easily available everyone and to serve as a place where students can meet with other practitioners. We host regular sangha meetings,

practice meditation together, view online teachings and share with each other our understanding of the Buddha’s teachings and their impact upon our daily lives. We have a comprehensive book and resource library and provide spiritual practice texts during attendance. Anyone who is interested in the Buddha’s teachings are most welcome. For more information about Dharma House guidelines and the nature of our activities, please visit http://www.dharma-house.org/index.html

The concept of forming our Dharma House began during a retreat with Rinpoche in Malaysia in 2010. During this retreat, it was agreed that we would commence Rinpoche's Dharma activities in Australia by forming a Dharma House. Over time we have managed to complete a great deal of work on our location in Palmwoods, by finishing house renovations and extensive work on the gardens and dedicated Dharma rooms. It has also been our late father’s wishes to progress with our Dharma House activities in Australia. Before our father passed away in 2010, he was working on this project and he wrote an invitation for Rinpoche to visit our Dharma House in Australia and provide teachings. Rinpoche fulfilled, these wishes and came to Australia in May 2012. During this time we have created two Dharma houses in close proximity to each other. Dharma House Montville, is a dedicated location for hosting future lama's and Rinpoche during teaching visits and Dharma House Palmwoods is dedicated to hosting regular sangha meetings, study groups and meditation sessions. We are very grateful for the kind and loving support that we have received from so many friends and we thank you all for your wide range of assistance. John Harris in Nepal has provided extensive advice, books and teachings. Tina Lang and Kathy Morris in Nepal have helped with advice and Rinpoche's visa and teaching visit to Australia. Kim Lodro from Denmark has provided 150 practice texts from Denmark and Sophie Ng from Malaysia has provided a beautiful large tanka for our main Dharma room. James Lang from Nepal has provided assistance with invitations and John Yuen from Malaysia has provided so much advice and support. A most special thank you goes to our precious teacher Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche for his spiritual guidance, love and his precious teachings. Without this assistance from our wonderful sangha friends, a lot of this would not be possible. There is a part of all of you in our Dharma House. Dharma House Palmwoods is located in the small town of Palmwoods on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. For several years we have strived to create a peaceful situation with two dedicated meditation rooms and tranquil gardens that serve as a sanctuary for a wide variety wildlife and a peaceful environment for study and practice.

You are most welcome to attend in person if you are in Boudha.

Time: from December 10-14 at 5 pm Nepal time!

In Kyabgon Phakchok Rinpoche's recent Dharma tour of Malaysia, he placed great emphasis on the practice of Tonglen.

Rinpoche recommends using our breath to assist us. We begin by exhaling & making the wish, ” I wish all beings to be happy”. We imagine that we are extending happiness out through our breath.

Next, as we inhale we make the wish, "I wish all beings be free from suffering”

When you're ready you can move to a more mature practice where you give your happiness to others & take on their suffering. First, we recall all our own good qualities – the merit, the joy, the good health, bliss, loving kindness, our own wisdom–all these we give to others freely & with great joy! We exhale & give everything positive to all sentient beings.

Then, as we inhale we take in all the pain & suffering of beings. We breathe in their illness, discomfort, fear, loneliness, depression, & all their suffering. We take all this in with the breath.

“Mindfulness is a mirror of our mind & motivation is a mirror of our dharma practice", Rinpoche's kind reminder.
