This Sunday (which is also a long weekend) we begin a short 3-week sermon series looking at John 17: Jesus' high priestly prayer. We're familiar that Jesus died for us, and we're familiar that Jesus rose again for us, but are we familiar with the idea that he prays for us?... what does that mean? what relevance does it have to our lives? what difference does it make to way we see the world around us?... come along as we dig into three sections of John 17. (Sundays, 9:30am at St James' Pakenham).

Our dear friend and congregation member, Allan Bailey, turned 100 on the weekend. His story is featured in today's local Gazette. Thank you to those who helped serve and prepare food in the kitchen on the day. A special part of the luncheon was the reading of 4 congratulatory letters to Allan for turning 100: one from the Premier of Victoria, one from the Australian Governor-General, one from the Prime Minister, and one from his Majesty King Charles! Allan has been a church warden (several times); a lay reader, Bible study leader and for many years ran a street ministry offering food and care to people on the streets in Cardinia Shire.

All welcome. (at St James' Anglican Church Pakenham, on the property of Beaconhills College, entrance off Pakenham Rd). *note: we are expecting a large number to attend, so please park in the school carpark adjacent to the church building if you can't find a spot elsewhere. thanks

Between Sundays 17th-31st of May, we're asking Pakenham one big question (or rather, finish this statement):
"If I were God, I'd...?". Come along at 9:30am on any of these Sundays as we explore this topic and what difference it would make if God became one of us. Historian, Dr John Dickson wrote a couple of books on this same topic that are short, but very clear and accessible: "If I were God, I'd end all the pain"; and "If I were God, I'd make myself clearer" (both books are well worth reading).

Don't forget: our High Tea coming up on May 9th. 2-4pm. please RSVP by May 2nd, so we can cater appropriately.
