Who are you, really?

Most of us answer with what we've done, or with something someone once said about us. Some of those labels lift us up. Many of them quietly weigh us down.

Then Paul wrote this: "If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)

That isn't self-improvement. It's a new starting point.

One step for today: name one label you've been carrying, and ask God how He sees you instead.

What do you do with the things you wish you'd never done?

For a lot of us the answer is hiding them, and hoping nobody looks too closely.

But shame is not the same thing as conviction. Conviction draws you toward God to be forgiven. Shame drives you away to hide.

Paul writes: "There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:1). Not less condemnation. None.

One step for today: name one thing you've been hiding, and tell God about it honestly.

Have you ever felt like God's love depends on how well you're doing?

Good week, God is pleased. Bad week, God is disappointed. A lot of us carry that quietly, without ever deciding to.

But a child doesn't earn a family. They simply belong to one.

Romans puts it plainly: "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) God's love is not a reward for good performance. It's the reason change becomes possible at all.

One step for today: spend two minutes simply receiving God's love, without trying to earn it or repay it.
