Oxley Uniting Church Growing in Christ | Showing Christ | Going Christ's Way

Worship service times:
Sunday - 9.00am and 5.00pm

At Oxley Uniting Church, we want to be passionate about Jesus Christ. It’s a passion we hope to show in a range of ways; through going deeper in faith as disciples of Jesus, by means of compassion as we seek to connect with our community in ways that make a difference, and journeying with God into the future God has in store for us.

You are invited to join us this Sunday, 25 January at 9am as we gather to recognise the Day of Mourning, an opportunity for church congregations and faith communities to go deeper in listening to, learning from, praying for and worshipping with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters. It offers a time for lament and hope.

This year, our reflection is also shaped by another profound moment of national grief. On Thursday 22 January, our nation observes a National Day of Mourning for the victims of the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach, where fifteen lives were lost during the Chanukah by the Sea gathering.

As the Church, we are called to stand in solidarity, to grieve with those who grieve, and to bear witness to the hope that light, love, and life in Christ will not be overcome.

This artwork was created by artist Zoe Korbe
(a Guwa Koa, Kuku Yalanji woman with historical ties to the Wakka Wakka peoples of Cherbourg community). It is inspired by Isaiah 9:2-3 “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light… you have multiplied the nation; you have increased its joy.”

Zoe will be joining us in leading our worship service on Sunday.

It was a wonderful gathering at OUC this morning. We welcomed Rev Bruce Moore, Moderator of the Uniting Church Queensland, who brought us a message opening our Advent series "It's your move". Then we celebrated the blessing of our new deck and dedicated it's use to the glory of God.
