Wondering where our Lachy has been this past week? He's currently in Japan with Presbyterian Youth & APWM learning about the work of the gospel in this nation and partnering with local churches in Tokyo and Osaka.

Last week a small team from Presbyterian Youth NSW left for Japan to learn more about the church in Japan and see what the needs are. Last Sunday the team visited the Christ Centre Presbyterian Church in Tokyo and this Sunday will visit the Osaka Presbyterian Church where they will assist the church with outreach.

What happens when, as a child, your world is not safe and the people you rely on are unable to meet your needs? Join clinical Psychologist Ruth Holt as she delves into living with the impact of childhood trauma.

We are understanding more of the long-term impacts of childhood trauma, but the relational templates that are formed have far-reaching impacts in our adult lives, our church relationships and our experience of God. This seminar aims to help both survivors and ministry workers understand some of these impacts and ways to build safe and healing relationships in a church setting.

Speaker: Ruth Holt
Ruth Holt is a Clinical Psychologist and Certified Schema Therapist (Supervisor/Trainer) in both Individual and Couples. Based in Canberra, Ruth works with clients with a focus on complex presentations, recovery from abuse and conducts workshops and training for psychologists on Schema Therapy, couples therapy, ministry resilience, women's mental health and abuse in relationships.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, and are keen to attend this seminar, there are a limited number of tickets available at the reduced price of $10. Please email [email protected] and The Mental Health & Pastoral Care Institute will be happy to provide you with a code.

It sounds like the end of a tragedy: "On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb." There is grief and mourning. But the story is not over.

"Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!"

🌞 Join us this Easter to celebrate the forgiveness, healing and hope found in Jesus, who lives! Our services are Sunday 10am and 4pm and we will look at Luke's gospel, chapter 24.

You're invited to our Good Friday service at 9am this Friday. Join us as we celebrate the one who saves, and we remember the darkest hour as the one that brings hope.

We'll be looking at Luke, chapter 23, if you would like to read ahead.

"It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last." – Luke 23 44-46

Tim Keller in the last article he wrote – “Lemonade on the Porch” (2023) explores how “we can continue to share the gospel in the Western world as cultural Christianity fades”. The metaphor of the porch relates to the need to come out of the church (the house) and sit in a space where others are passing by (the porch) so we can engage and interact with them (drink lemonade).
